Professional Athletes Paid
Professional athletes are rare, so you have to pay them to stay in the sport and to play hard. However, people will say that professional athletes are selfish because their want of money. But those people are wrong because most of those athletes give money to charities and support other groups. They also have very little time to spend with their families because there always training to become better or traveling the United States to play other teams. Athletes also make what they do is because there are very few people that can throw a baseball 95 mph accurately, hit a ball over 400 feet, or take hits from 250 lb linebackers in the NFL. That is why I choose that it would be unfair to impose salary caps on athletes.

Why should college athletes be paid to participate in their sports? College athletes are awarded tuition free college due to their hard work and athletic abilities, why should they get paid extra money outside of their tuition being paid? Student athletes in college only have two jobs while they are attending, to learn and become a better and smarter athlete. These student athletes don’t need extra money outside of having their tuition, room and board, and food paid for. They are also given clothing which takes away another money based need. These student athletes are given much more than other students and yet they still believe that they should be paid for their extra work outside of their performances. The first reason why athletes should not get paid is because they already get free things from their sponsors to their fans. “The NCAA athletes get paid with psychology classes, track suits, knee braces, and ice baths.” This proves that the athletes get free stuff some of it that they don’t even use. Also the more popular you get the more fans you have and more sponsorship you have which means more money/gifts.…

Is it really worth to pay athletes so much money? People are saying that Pro athletes are getting paid way too much. Athletes are role models and motivators for kids. Also a lot of their money comes from sponsorships. Team Owners and Sponsorships pay athletes a reasonable amount. They also are role models for kids that look up to them a lot. This once a year ritual brings together many Americans who are happy to watch millionaires knock each other around on the perfectly painted and well-kept field. However, does the massive number of people watching the Super Bowl, or any other sporting event throughout the year, justify their salary? This essay argues no for a few reasons; larger salaries drive up costs for consumers, the massive pay is an indication of corporate and individualistic greed, and it is, simply, morally wrong.…

Frankly, there is no simple answer to the question of salaries for college athletes. The NY Times Upfront article “Should College Athletes Be Paid?” poses two fantastic arguments; “yes” says Joe Nocera, author of Indentured: The Inside Story of the Rebellion Against the NCAA, and “no” says Bob Williams, Sr. Vice President of Communications a NCAA. Although Mr. Nocera makes the valid point of how much revenue college athletes earn for their schools, Williams states how college salary would end the focus of academics for athletes, as well as sparking a controversial new “industry” in college.…

The world of college athletics is one of the many wonders of sports. The NCAA is a billion dollar organization that sets the guidelines and rules for the college sports world. They put limits on what student-athletes can and cannot do. College universities generate so much revenue from basically exploiting these athletes. “Only approximately 7% of high school athletes go on to compete at the collegiate level” (O’ Rourke).
