The Importance of Establishing a Healthy Enviornment There are many problems facing the world today; serious problems that could have grave consequences if not resolved within the next few years. However, there is one looming problem, which if not resolved, could make all other problems obsolete; the way that we take care of the environment, or rather the way we neglect it. The environment is a necessity for everyday life. Without the environment, we would die. How we chose to end global warming is interesting, because much of our daily uses affect the environment. The Industrial Revolution marked a major turning point in Earth’s ecology and humans’ relationship with their environment. The Industrial Revolution dramatically changed every aspect of human life and lifestyles. In this era, machinery replaced manual labor and fossil fuels replaced wind, water, and wood. The exploitation of natural resources such as coal and iron ore was also necessary to fuel steam engines for trains and boats in America during the 1800's. By the early 1900's, a huge increase in global factories and commercial sectors saw rapid growth economically. The start of car production was a turning point in history, not only because it revolutionized transport but also because the building areas released carbon emissions, weakening the ozone layer. Petrol was required to run vehicles, further damaging the air. The creation of chemicals, planes and in particular, plastics was a massive contributor to environmental destruction. As you can see now, the Industrial revolution has changed our lives for the better, but caused many problems along the way. Problems that could possibly lead to global warming. Here is the good news. US carbon emissions are decreasing rapidly. We're down over 10% from our emissions peak in 2007. Furthermore, the drop isn't just a function of the Great Recession. Since 2010 our economy has been growing, but emissions have kept on falling. The reason is because of
