How to prevent bribery

Bribery is the crime of giving or receiving something of value to influence official action. Both the person giving and the person receiving the bribe are guilty of bribery.

There are several ways to overcome bribery in our country. They includes strict legal action. When strict exemplary punishments will be awarded to the practitioners of bribe irrespective of their power and position, others will learn a lesson out of it and the practice will be reduced.

Secondly, the factors of social stigma. When bribing will be considered as a social stigma people will be disheartened for it. In other words, if the society will hate the bribe practitioners and will try to keep aloofness from them, the practice will be less. Human being is a social person. It cannot live without a society. Hence, with the fear of having been discarded by the society they will stop practicing it.

The other way is by transparency. That means, if every action will be made transparent to public, the probability of corruption and bribing will be reduced.

Then, by the role of media. Role of media is too important to deal with the practice of bribing. Not only print media, electronics media or web media but the entertainment media can be excellent weapon to demoralize bribing. Nowadays, films and TV serials have become the mentors for custom, tradition, dance, costume, style and for every aspect of life. Hence, when this sector will convey the society through its colourful songs, movies and TV serials, people will better understand its language.

Finally, by listening to the conscience. When everybody will start listening to their conscience and can feel that practice of bribe is truly upsetting the society, the menace can be outlawed. Every human being has a ‘goodman’ within himself. The moment he initiates to abide that goodman, corruption will be bounds to disappear.
