Pop Culture Research Paper
The changes in American society and culture are shown in the development of new toys and games. Between 1950 to the present day, toys and games have evolved because of the introduction of technology, the development of pop culture, and the beginning of a more fast paced society. As each decade progressed, technological advances increased their presence in society. The 1950s and the 1960s did not include many electronic style. However with the 1970s came the introduction of more toys with electronic capabilities. For example, toys like the Speak & Spell and the Simon Electronic Game were developed in the late 70s. However with the 80s came less electronic toys and more dolls. The 1990s was when technological advancements truly hit the toy market. With the release of talking dolls and the first mobile gaming systems, children were now growing up around electronics. The 2000s followed with even more technological toys being manufactured. Home gaming systems were now common place in most houses. Along with this, portable music players such as the Ipod Touch were now introduced to the market. Technology has made a major impact on toys and games as each decade came. Toy companies always want to come out with …show more content…
America has always had a culture of hard work but as each decade came, society seemed to shift to a busier lifestyle. In the 1950s and 1960s, life was much slower pace. By the 1980s, life had become very busy.. Toys, like Polly Pockets, had been created for girls who wanted to play anywhere they went. In 1990s and 2000s, with the addition of technology, new toys could be developed for fun on the go. Toys like Tamagotchi and Ipod Touches had entered their way into the market. More and more toys were being created for the purpose of having fun while being active. For example, Elefun and Moon Shoes were invented in the early 1990s.     By the 1970’s the genre Rock n Roll really didn’t have one specific sound. The seventies saw the breakup of The Beatles and the death of Elvis, two of rock’s hugest influences.
