In the cartoon drawn by Mark Knight which was published in the Herald Sun, the cartoonist expresses his opinion towards the AFL continuing to allow Ben Cousins to play football and under what conditions. His tone isn’t actually shown in the cartoon yet he expresses his tone by the sarcasm in his drawings, in a way revealing his feelings towards Cousins and the head of the AFL, Andrew Demetriou.…
I really enjoyed reading your post. You have made some great points and displayed the idea in great detail. The Coyote and Roadrunner cartoons is a very good example of using physics within animation. I have always loved watching this cartoon and laughing at it. I also liked how you posted a video about how each ball moves and acts. This was helpful and is a good realistic video that helps one animate a ball.…

Throughout history people have been developing ways to make day to day tasks easier and overall improve quality of life. Every generation had its great inventions but the twenty first century brought forth many amazing breakthroughs involving communication and the accessing of all kinds of information. Even though the twenty first century has brought along many new and impressive technological advancements that would allow the everyday individual to expand their intellectual horizons, it actually ends up doing these millennials more harm than good.…
It was a dark and confusing time, towards the end of the Civil War. The Union would soon find out how unprepared they were once the Reconstruction Phase started. There were many issues that needed to be handled, but the biggest one would be getting the Whites to accept African-Americans as citizens with rights. It was 1865, post-civil war, when Thomas Nast started to contribute to the views of public opinion through the use of his vivid political cartoons. Nast constructed three influential cartoons that helped change the views of Americans. He attempts to sway public opinion by depicting his characters as either good or bad figures, portrays the injustice Northerners and African-Americans faced, and mocks the conducts of the Confederates. Nast’s cartoons were extremely powerful; they allowed viewers to understand the problems that the nation was facing at the time…
Stem cell research has long been deemed a taboo subject. People’s opinions can vary greatly regarding the use of stem cells to further research. Former president, George W. Bush, offers the differing viewpoints in his speech, “Remarks on Stem Cell Research,” in hopes of educating readers regarding his decision to limit government funded research. Bush uses rhetorical appeal of pathos, rhetorical statements and the rhetorical strategy of simile to provide a successful, persuasive speech.…
This cartoon depicts First Lady Melania Trump holding a sign that reads,”Stop cyberbullying,Melania,” while little twitter bird icons are flying over her head. I think that the thesis of this political cartoon is that Melania’s anti bullying campaign is hypocritical because he huband bullies and name calls people on twitter. So I think that this political cartoon is calling that out and is saying that if she wants to make a difference with anti bullying campaigns, then she should start with her husband. This political cartoon relates to me life because President’s Trump bullying and malicious twitter behaviour is something that is reported often in the media and is something that affects all our lives as he is representation of our country and is the voice for all Americans and his bad behavior can have negative and maybe deadly consequences.…

Imagine your life at the age of 32. It is as perfect as you could have ever imagined it. You are married with three beautiful children; two girls and a boy. Your oldest daughter is complaining of stumbling and clumsiness, so you take her to the doctor. You are devastated to learn that she, along with your other two children, have a neurological disorder called Batten Disease. This is a rare but always fatal disease. You are now going to have to go through what no parent ever wants to go through. You will have to watch your children wilt away like flowers. They will go blind, lose all motor skills, suffer from dementia and die a horrific, prolonged death. You will have to bury not only one, but all three of your children. This is a story of the Pinder family, whose children I went to school with. The oldest two children, both girls, are now deceased, and the youngest, a boy, is progressively getting worse. Unfortunately there is no cure for this disease on the market yet. The FDA has recently approved a clinical trial to use brain stem cells of fetal tissue to treat this disease; however the funding for stem cell research is either non-existent, or tied up in the court systems due to ethical and moral issues (Stem-Cell Funding’s). Even with the release of the funds for embryonic stem cell research, it would be too late to treat the last Pinder child. After seeing this family go through the loss of two children, and waiting in emotional turmoil for the death of their last child, I am for the study and research of embryonic stem cells. I hope that it could one day save families from the pain the Pinder’s are currently in.…
Designers of all political parties, not just the Left, are capable of encouraging positive and negative change in the world. Graphic Designers, Cartoonists, and the Mainstream Media, are all aware of how impactful a strong emotional response can be, especially before a political event or poll takes place. Designers and Cartoonists draw inspiration from the media and social issues and incorporate them into their work. It is especially important that designers conduct more research than necessary to verify news sources and to keep in mind the potential political bias of the news source they get their information from. A picture is not exactly truthful these days and it is important to understand that the media can easily turn a picture into something it is not. Designers should take caution in developing political campaigns that use media stories and images to create more…
Stem cell research represents a new opportunity for ethical thought and debate. Stem cells are primitive cells which have yet to specialize. Through proper coaxing, stem cells can be made to differentiate into usable body cells and eventually used for medical treatment. Though stem cell technology has been in development since the 1960’s, it was not until August of 2001, when then-president George W. Bush announced that federal funds could be allotted to embryonic stem cell research, that the issue became a hot political topic. The matter is argued with vehement fervor, but the quarrels are wrought with emotivism and partisanship more than actual valid and cogent arguments. In fact, stem cell research has a very broad range of ethical implications. The normative ethical theories, the abortion debate, and even business ethics all have a place in the discussion due to the different new moral challenges which are prompted by this blossoming technology.…
This primary source is a political cartoon that was drawn in 1909 by E.W. Gustin. He named it the “Election Day!” This cartoon was created to show men in America what would happen if they voted for women’s suffrage.…
At the heart of the political debate about whether the federal government should sponsor and pay for the research of embryonic stem cell is the cultural and political idea of when human life begins. This question is the most important one in the process of either banning or allowing and funding the research. It is clear that murder is against both the moral/ethical and legal code in this country and in most others. The question of whether life begins at conception; a point of view taken by pro-life activists, or whether life begins later on in the process when the egg forms a sense of…
CNS News exploits exaggeration in this cartoon about abortion. The cartoon shows a woman in with a t-shirt on that says “Third Trimester” and an arrow pointing down at her oversized pregnant stomach. The woman is asking, “How Dare you challenge my RIGHT to kill this thing?” and she is saying, “No one can STOP me from doing whatever I want with my body!” At the bottom of the cartoon it states “Liberal compassion at 36 weeks.” This exaggerates the fact that women have the choice to have late term abortions. The cartoonist creates the stomach bigger than a realistic pregnant woman would actually be. The CNS News is trying to make sense that this woman is 36 weeks pregnant. A baby is normally born after 39 weeks, but the woman wants to terminate the baby last minute. CNS News wants to let viewers know that late abortion is wrong.…
