The article, ‘Police, Politics, and Culture in a Deeply Divided Society’ tries to explain the divide and perception of law enforcement from the Arab minority group of Israel. In Israel, the Muslim Arabs are the main minority along with Christian Arabs and Druze. There were multiple factors that the article listed that affected the Arabs perceptions of the police in a negative way including political disagreement along with cultural differences. The different subgroups of Arabs had varying relationships with law enforcement. The Druze were the most like the majority Jewish population. This showed that the Druze had more positive perceptions of law enforcement than that of Muslims and Christians. Both groups had issues when the police threatened any cultural components of their community.

The importance to understanding this frame is to help with the problems of legitimacy, law enforcement faces with minority groups which is a main variable of having a good relationship with law enforcement. The research uncovers that culture and political differences decrease the trust that the Arabs have with law enforcement. Improvements of relationship may come with cultural reforms of police culture. The police must be aware of sensitive culture values of the minatory community this is a challenge that may be improved by proper training. Recruiting more Arab law enforcement agents may help with police relations, creating a more multicultural police environment. Creating a relationship with leaders of the minority community and the police can also show useful especially in high security situations.
