Is the American River College plagiarism policy really needed to be looked over? It has been around since American River College has been here. Who has ever wondered if it has ever been reviewed? How many mistakes are even in the policy. Plagiarism is such a big thing to worry about many of us have plagiarized but did we do it on purpose or have we done it accidently. Plagiarism is taking someone else's words or ideas and not using them as a credible source. If you have done it accidentally then most teachers won’t get too mad but if you do it on purpose then the teacher will most likely have a talk. The use of footnoting helps readers know who the references are of the reading. By following this it will be easier for you to write your essay and will help you avoid getting in trouble for plagiarizing. Many students fall into the trap of plagiarizing because either they have a deadline to meet or they are just too lazy to write the essay. According to the Policy it’s also considered plagiarism if you buy an essay online the reason it’s still plagiarizing is because the words aren’t originally yours, so it is still considered plagiarism. The reason plagiarism is such a big deal is because you are taking someone else’s words or ideas and not giving the original writer credit for what they did. I also believe that professors should be more lenient on the ones who are just now starting out and not be so lenient on the students who have been here for a long time. I have had many of times where I had a short amount of time to do an essay and having to plagiarize had got me into trouble. I believe if most kids are taught ways to avoid plagiarism then that will bring them into a better place when they are in college and they know that an essay is due and they forgot to write it, it will help them remember the ways to avoid plagiarism. For me trying to learn the American River College’s plagiarism policy, it was really hard for me to figure out what they were trying to say.
