OBSERVATION NOTES & COMMENTS |
The teacher started the class by introducing a set of finger plays to the students. The teacher delivered it consecutively while on the other hand, Gabriel seemed no energy in getting involved compared to other students who were attentively participating. He just simply goes with the song without executing the actions.

The teacher gave an activity to the whole class in which the students were tasked to connect dots. Gabriel followed the teacher’s instruction but it’s just that the way he connected the dots were not that perfect. The expected figures were not so emphasized because there were over lapsing lines.

The teacher gave exercise to the class. We saw how Gabriel wrote his name on the worksheet for recognition purposes. We’ve observed that he formed hesitant in completing his name, he provides huge and big spaces for each letter until become over and messy to look at.

* It’s on his face that he don’t like what is going on.

* He cannot still control handling directions to a pen that is why he finds difficulty in connecting the dots.

* Gabriel needs more assistance in writing his name. * These still have something to do on how he control handling pen.

Although Michael’s attention varied in reading, he had a 100% attention span in the other areas of observation. For example, during the three Art periods, the introduction to the Freedom Quilt Blocks was new content that challenged his thinking. After giving the instructions on how to complete the worksheet pages, the first example of modeling a small block and replicating it on the bigger block stumped him. Michael turned to his peer and asked, “What…

I observed a child throwing a fit at the mall the other day. This child did not want to leave the store and did not want to get into her stroller. She started to throw her head back and scream very loudly. Then she would throw her arms around and kick, in an attempt to not be strapped in. The mother started to yell at her daughter to stop while trying to strap her in. After a few minutes of the child kicking and screaming she was able to strap her in. But the child continued to scream, this was when the mother decided to leave the mall. My recommendation is that instead of trying to force the child into the stroller the parent could have held the child. Trying her best to calm her down, since the child was throwing around her body while the…

Often a skilled writer has difficulty with “negotiating and coordinating basic skills, knowledge, strategies, and conventions of the written language” (p. 54). Imagine the challenges of a child diagnosed with ADHD. ADHD affects approximately 2 million school-aged children. These children are predicted to perform academically much lower than their intellectual capability. Reid and Lienemann expand on research showing students with ADHD are at a great disadvantage mastering writing skills because they are well below the controls in transcription, handwriting, written expression, word complexity, productivity, and general writing ability. Other disadvantages are organization and planning skills proven to be important in achievement in written expression.…

This observation took place on Saturday October 17th at Town Center Corte Madera at approximately 2:00pm. The day was bright and sunny and the Mall was full of all kinds of parents and children. I choose a male child approximately 3 years old, wearing blue top and black pants with sponge bob square pants sneakers. The mother was wearing a yoga outfit as most mothers in Marin seem to wear these days. She was in her mid-thirties. Dad was also present, he wore a short sleeved Hawaiian print shirt with Khaki shorts and flip flops, and he too seemed to be in his mid-thirties. I was sitting at the table near the elephant fountain facing the fountain with my back to the store so know…
