Persuasive Speech On Mary Maloney
Guilty

“My name is Skylar McMahan and I am here today to the behalf of Patrick Maloney.” I continued “ We are all her today because Mary Maloney is a cold blooded killer and should face the death penalty. Mary Maloney obviously hit her husband in the back of the head, just because he was wanting a divorce.” Mary Maloney's lawyer stood up and said “Objection! The defendant is not guilty, because she was at the store, and when she came back she was dead!” I stepped in and said “You cannot say that, because she was obviously angry at him!” It was silent for a few seconds.

The next time someone spoke it was indeed me again. “She might claim that she came back and he was like that, but she did admit to it later.” I said calmly. The judge

Even the judge! Everyone was yelling at someone except for me until finally the judge said “Order, Order in the court now! Everyone take five!” So i walked outside to get some air. I came back in to sit down, but it was just time to start, so I stood up to continue with my case. “Even before she killed Patrick Maloney she said she sat there with a dazed of horror, correct?” Her lawyer said “yes that’s actually correct, why?” I replied “Because that's just a well giving sign that she was fixing to make the worst decision in her whole entire life. Do I seem to be wrong” Marys lawyer said “Well i suppose so, but thats just because she needs to get some help that she needs!” I reported “Alright lets just see what the jury thinks about that! Because all your evidence is false!” It got real quiet. Nobody moved a muscle. That was until we all heard a loud bam! Everyone in the courtroom jumped even the judge. Everyone tried to figure out what the noise was until the judge started laughing. He had just bangged is gabble on the desk and was gonna say something until everybody jumped. Then he bangged the gabble on the desk again, but this time he said “everyone step out and let the jury decide” Everyone walked out until a woman came out and said. “Alright everyone back inside now.” Everyone was so eager to figure out what they had decided. I had a pretty good feeling that i ruled the case and that she would be

How could Mary be the killer if she wasn’t at the crime scene? According to court documents, “It wasn’t six o’clock yet and the lights were still on in the grocery shop.”(Dahl). It would have been impossible for Mary to commit the crime because she was at the grocery shop when the crime took place. Mrs. Maloney went to the grocery store for some vegetables. The grocer states, “Mrs. Maloney came to the store to purchase vegetables and potatoes, bought two of the potatoes. She seemed happy and calm as she…

Judge and jury, I beg thee to charge Ms. Maloney with the murder of Patrick Maloney. Why would the perfectly stable Mary Maloney randomly decide to kill her husband? What would cause a perfectly sane woman to do such a heinous crime? As you are aware, Patrick Maloney was a well-respected member of the police force. To all who knew him he was a good man. He never had any enemies, and was very committed to his job. So how did this good man end up dead? Supposedly, Mr. Maloney was alleged of having an affair. However, Mr. Maloney is no longer around to testify to that fact. If Ms. Maloney had heard of this alleged affair, maybe that drove her to murder him. There is sufficient evidence showing that Ms. Maloney was the murderess. Number one, there…

In my opinion, Mary Maloney has lost control. She has killed her husband, Patrick Maloney without knowing the true facts which proves she has lost control. This is shown from the beginning when Patrick Maloney told Mary Maloney something that would change their lives forever. “Her first instinct was not to believe any of it, or reject it all. It occurred to her that perhaps he hadn’t even spoken that she herself had imagined the whole thing” (63). This quote shows how Mary Maloney pretended that nothing happened and went on with her day and started cooking. This proves that she was in denial. Later on in the story, Mary Maloney went to get supper made for her husband and herself. She stopped and looked at her…

I handed Sgt. Daves a pair of gloves and set the boxes down on the floor for anyone else that needed them. Sgt. Daves was asking for someone to retrieve a mat because the inmate was lying face down and was continuing to bang his head on the concrete floor. I worked my way past them carefully to get a mat around the corner and brought it back placing it underneath his face. I went back around the corner to get the nurse from medical area and he was already walking through the door to come to check on the inmate. I got down onto my knees and assisted by holding his head and we began discussing rolling him over onto his back. We carefully rolled him over onto his back so that the nurse could assess his head injury and decide if he would need to go to the hospital for further treatment. I began to talk to inmate Chad Fields asking him why he was banging his head onto the floor. He responded saying that the voices were telling him to do it, his children had been killed by the sheriff and he wanted to go to be in heaven with his children. I asked him if he ever drank alcohol, he said “no”. I told him that he could relax his head in my hands, the nurse was back with some water to rinse his wound so that he could take a better look at…

As we walked into the jury room, after hearing the case of Commonwealth v. Miller, I had already decided how I would vote and, honestly, I determined I was not going to be swayed. We swiftly chose a foreman by appointing the one, who had been given the jury instructions, to that position. Next, we read the jury instructions out loud, in order to remember and understand the definition of each charge. Debate over the meaning of the instructions ensued for a short amount of time before we dove into determining guilt or innocence. Everyone was given a chance to discuss the case and, personally, I felt comfortable entering the discussion and debating the case. After discussion, we voted and were evenly split among guilty or not guilty. Next, we…

I spoke with authority as I reviewed the evidence. As I handed out the voting ballots, I realized that I had transformed from a nervous observer into a poised and confident leader. One last obstacle presented itself when one of the members got cold feet. “I can’t do it!” she said. “I can’t look him in the eye and find him guilty.” Eleven sets of anxious eyes glared at me as I put my hands on her slouching shoulders. The situation needed a remedy, and it was clear that I was in charge of providing it. I reminded her of the victims and of the trauma they had suffered. I recited the words of the judge’s instructions regarding our duty to justice and the law. None of us wanted to deliver this life-altering news. However, as her leader, I assured her that together we could find the strength to do…
