Persuasive Essay On Raising The Driving Age To 18
In the United States, every state has their own laws and the minimum driving age for driving, but in most of states, the legal driving age is sixteen years. However, it is dangerous to drive a motor vehicle alone for a sixteen years old driver. Some people believe that older teenagers can make a responsible decision while driving. On the other hand, some people believe that younger teenagers can do jobs because they can drive themselves. Statistics show that young drivers – sixteen to seventeen years old – have more traffic accidents than most other demographic groups. The driving age should be raised from sixteen years to eighteen years old for several reasons. The first reason for raising the driving age to eighteen years is the lack of …show more content…
This is not true. It is not important to have a driving license to get the part-time jobs. There are many other options to go to the jobs. Students can get the jobs which are near to their home so that they can go to their jobs by walk. Students have full-time school during weekdays; therefore, they can only get their jobs during weekends. Most parents have off during weekends so that they can give a ride to their children to the jobs. Also, they can get the ride from their co-workers, and in the emergency, Uber and taxies are available for them. Even though, if they have the driving license, they have to pay more than 200 dollars per month for the insurance. However, if they use Uber, it will not cost more than 100 dollars per month for the part-time jobs. In summary, students have better options to go to their jobs than drive themselves. The driving age should be raised from sixteen years to eighteen years because of the safety of the younger teenagers. We can save more lives of the younger teenagers. Also, it will help financially to the parents of the younger teenagers because of low insurance. Students can still do jobs if the driving age raised to eighteen

I’m sure there are parents out there who don’t agree with raising the driving age to eighteen. They might think that this is a bad thing because they might need help running errands like going to get groceries or getting their younger siblings from activities they might’ve had. But in the end, would you really want your kid to be going onto the road not as educated about driving at sixteen, or waiting and driving when they are ready at eighteen? They will be more responsible, mature, and raising the age limit could be helpful to the teenagers life and…

Lowering the driving age would minimise the amount of stress that is put on parents and the young adult, as there is so much stress on parents, as they are having to get everyone to everywhere on time, but also get themselves to places on time. Which does not allow time for a parent to have time for themselves (especially for a parent whom parents alone). For the adolescent who is not relying on others, will make them have more responsibilities and can be taken more accountable for their own action in…

In my response the driving age should not be raised. This concern has been a problem then and still is today. The Driving age should not be raised , one reason is 16 or 17 year olds drive everywhere in case of emergencies , for work , school and we shouldn’t take that away from them. If the 16 year old or 17 year old are trying to drive they at least should have a permit and should require it so that if they get stopped by a patrolling officer they know if they have the privilege to drive or not and should get fine if they are caught without a permit. It’s important to learn how to drive at an early age because it can really help if their is some type of emergency throughout the family and they need to drive to the hospital or a parent can’t drive anymore and needs to be driven.…

The appropriate age for a teenager to obtain a driving permit is 16 years old, however I believe it should be raised to 17 since there is a high rate of teenagers causing accidents. There might be some exceptions why they should keep it at 16 but due to the high rate of teen crashes they should raise the age to 17. Statistics have shown that teenagers have a higher chance of accidents. Teenagers from the ages of 15 to 17 are more likely to cause a car crash for many reasons. While teenagers go out at night and drive around with friends and only have their permit, they are putting other’s people life at risk. The three main reasons why teenagers should be at least the age of 17 to be able to get their permit is because they drive and text,…

Teenage accident rates and mortality rates have increased dramatically over the years. Nothing that the parents do and law enforces will protect the teens all the time, especially from themselves. Teenagers do not realize the responsibility that comes with driving. They are often distracted with other things such as texting while driving. Most importantly, parents always worry about the safety of their kids on the road. Some people may say that the driving age should stay at the age of 16; however, raising the driving age to 18 will create safer and more responsible drivers. Firstly, teenagers are very careless. In addition, increasing the minimum driving age will allow teenagers more time to get comfortable with driving. Finally, the number of fatal accidents will be reduced. Therefore, the minimum driving age should be raised from 16 to 18.…

    Raising Minimum Age

Because of safety concerns, many states have increased the age at which teens can begin to drive. Some teenagers at the age of 16 are responsible. Some 16 year olds are irresponsible. Also, all 18 year olds are not responsible and able to drive the correct way. The state legislature should not raise the minimum age from 16 to 18 because some 16 year olds have a job and need transportation, a few may not like to depend on individuals to drive them back and forth, and many teenagers like to do their own things and not always with their parents.…
