Personal Statement: Why I Want To Study Computer Science
There was a time in the past when jobs and occupations were clearly slow

and dreary and there was limited scope of rapid growth and achievement,

while today every job and business is driven by ambition, achievement,

competition, challenges and such other facts that have made the world

materialistically very pleasurable and careers have undergone a sea

change. Today’s generation thinks big, aspires for the impossible, dreams

of creating new vistas. I am fortunate to be competing at the current time

and to be able to benefit by technological advances, imagination, ambition

and burning desire. All such qualities are clearly important to ensure that

everybody who believes can make it big, and I too belong to this generation

I would now like to throw light on my interest to study Computer Science,

beginning with an incident in my childhood in which my father bought a

Laptop for the first time. We had, till then, access to a not very new

Personal Computer which did not attract my attention. My father was

convinced that Computers will have a defining role to play in the future, and

that this will be the chosen field for the best talent for careers and business

opportunities. How true he was!! I actually consider my dad no less than

any other visionary, just that he did not have the resources and

opportunities to explore and pursue a career that is driven by ideas and

ambition. I wish to fill that void, because my dad dreams through me and

wishes to fulfill his incomplete dream career in Information Technology.

I worked very hard to secure a seat in GITAM University, which then was

considered a major achievement, and that I got Computer Science as a

major in a dream institution for seriously career inclined students, and

I realized that I need to

supplement my under-graduate study with a Masters’ study in a leading

University in USA, and on this, my seniors and Professors have been of

great assistance. I am keen to take up a Masters’ in Computer Science, for

which I am adequately equipped with my depth of knowledge in the subject

which is also my major in my undergraduate course. I have strong

knowledge in subjects like C, Data Structures, DBMS, Software

Engineering etc, which are part of my syllabus. I am also pursuing

courses like Java, .net and Software Testing in a leading Computer

Training Center so that I do not fall short of the required knowledge for a

study in Computer Science. I have also got selected in 3 Campus

Recruitment jobs in IT Majors, which is proof of my current IT Knowledge.

I am at a juncture in my career in which I need a launching pad for my

career to take off. The knowledge that I acquired till date is good enough

for me to get a job and I have been selected by a couple of MNCs in

Campus Recruitments, but I am determined to supplement my already

deep knowledge in my subjects with world-class and updated

It is a game of focus, strategies, skill, and learning. You can spend time with your friends and family while you’re playing. Basketball is such a fun sport that I think most people like to play.…

Everybody has reasons behind the choices they make in life, whether they realize this or not. It does not matter if the reasons are good, bad, strong, or weak, because it is up to the individual to decide what will truly motivate him or her. With that being said, I have been asked the question, “Why am I in college?” At first glance, the question seemed simple to answer. However, upon reflection, I found there were a myriad of reasons behind my choice to be in school right now. As I thought about why I am here in the first place, I realized there are both external and internal motivators behind my decision. The most compelling reasons for me to be…

College often is seen as a choice expected of teens to make. We are supposed to go to college or have to go to college before our lives can begin. I like to think college is about preparing us for our lives. It is the building of a raft before we journey down the river of life. Bumpy this ride may become, but our education will keep us afloat. I have chosen college to become one step closer to my goal. That is I plan to be a doctor, a healer. Through undergraduate school I will further my education so I may apply to medical school and become a physician. For as long as I can remember I have always looked up to doctors and other practitioners they devote so much of themselves to helping others and expect little in return. However, college isn’t cheap and I wish my parents could afford to pay for my school but we are nearly living paycheck to paycheck and student loans are a nasty…

There many reasons people desire a college education. The two main reasons are to make more money and those who want it as a life accomplishment. I am different than most people. Passion is a wierd thing; it's not something you have control over. For some it may be drawing, for others it maybe studying, but for me, it comes down to three things: sports, computers, and music. Growing up, I was always fascinated by computers, at the young age of 4, I discovered how to use a computer and at 5, I started playing video games. When I was half-way throught kindergarten, my family moved back to Taiwan from Japan. In Japan we didnt take naps, but it is required in Taiwan. Growing up in a different system, it was hard for me to adapt; so instead of going to sleep after lunch, I was allowed to go to the computer lab and explore how to use different computer softwares. It was not long till I was in 4th grade when I received my first windows laptop and soon in 6th grade, I received my first Macbook Pro.…

There continues to be competition for employment after college and it depends on what college one attends. For example, there are huge gaps on the average salaries between a student who attends Harvard and a student who attends somewhere less prestigious. The reasons why I want to go to college are to get good job, gain social experience, and to get a great education.…

The purpose of college is not only to prepare yourself for a career after college but to discover what you are truly passionate about. As a freshmen student, I find it difficult to find something within the field of engineering that I want to make a career out of. Unfortunately, the limitations of fulfilling a required core curriculum and being overlooked by companies for an internship makes it hard for freshmen to test the waters and plan an academic and professional future. I feel studying abroad is one way in which I can learn about the different paths engineering can lead to, all while broadening my cultural horizons. I am particularly interested in this course because Italy and nuclear engineering are two things that I would like to explore.…

Ever since I can remember I have dreamed of being an adult. Being able to stay out till whenever I pleased. Making my own decisions with no one to tell me otherwise. Wearing heels and makeup to impress a man who I could one day marry. It all sounded like a dream to a young me. A young me who didn’t realize how hard it could be to achieve that dream. I didn’t realize I'd first have to go through four years of high school. Four years of tears, stress and waiting. Waiting for the four years that really can decide your future: college.…
