Personal Statement: I Want To Live In Texas
Where would I want to live? Personally, I would want to live out on a ranch around here in Texas. I was born in Texas, and I have always loved this state. The reason I would want to live in Texas would be because it’s close to my family, the ranching lifestyle is family oriented, and Texas has a strong historical background. I find as I get older I seem to value things more like money, clothing, transportation, but what I value the most is family. My family is fairly unified; my mother’s side of the family lives here in Texas, and my dad’s side lives in Mississippi, but I have a good relationship with both sides. Having a ranch here in Texas would be awesome because it would bring my family together. Just maybe not both sides of the family

Where former First Lady Claudia Alta "Lady Bird" Johnson aspired to see bright and colorful wildflower blanketing the great Texas countryside, oftentimes we only see disturbing amounts of garbage. This is what I aim to change. Through my school's Key Club I have had the opportunity to have a positive impacts in reducing the "over 435 million pieces of visible litter" covering "our empire wide and glorious." In the thirty-eight total service hours I have dedicated to both Texas Adopt-A-Highway and school wide recycling the amount of litter that myself and the generous volunteers…

Gazing out of the airplane window, I saw the words Mei Guo— “beautiful country” in Chinese—painted on the airport terminal. My mother and I immigrated to America when I was a small child from Taishan, China. She aimed to remove me from a life where society would limit my options and ostracize me due to my father’s blindness from Retinitis Pigmentosa and the family’s lack of proper education. My father was willing to let go of his only child because he, too, knew it would open infinite opportunities for me to succeed. Though my new life in America seemed prosperous at first, I soon realized I needed to create opportunities for myself despite our lack of resources.…

Living in Texas most of my life I was no stranger to Americans who either didn’t speak English at all or whose first language wasn’t English. As I interacted with people, mostly from Mexico, I had a hard time understanding why they didn’t want to speak English . Although I’m ashamed to say it, I often viewed these people as less educated and meek. A statement that Ive heard all to often is that people who don’t speak English should learn our language or leave America. However, I’ve never considered myself racist or close minded, despite the fact that I often felt frustrated and uncomfortable while trying to interact with people whose first language wasn’t English. Being on the other side of this situation forever changed…

Parsons, Kansas, the place I were born and raised. I had been out of town before and went to another city and state but none to where I was willing to move when I got older. A large part of my family lived here, and this is where all my friends were from. My family was very close and we always spent the holidays together, so It wasn’t as if I was all alone at any time. Every one I needed was no more than a five- block radius from each other, so I could visit and have a good time pretty much all the time. Most of the friends I made in school didn’t leave, so I really had no reason to move when I got older. I enjoyed the country and all it had to offer I could go fishing, ride horses and make mud pies pretty much all day with the kids and go to the bars at night with my friends and family. I really could find no reason to leave, I worked at nursing home and had a pretty nice duplex that I never want to leave. I knew my way around like the back of my hands I had explored that town over the last 25 years; I could make a road map myself. My family was always having some kind of gathering on the weekend that I couldn’t be bored.…

Growing up in the country is like a fresh breath of air, you need it but once you've taken it in your life gets infinity better. Like air, everyone needs family, someone to take care of or even to take care of you. There is no place to do that better than the country, there you can have both. I've had personal experience with growing up in the country and it is because of growing up where I did that made me the person I am today. Growing up in the country I always had my family not matter what, making those connections made it easy to stay connected to my family even now when we all don't live so close. I am one out of eight children also one of the oldest which meant I had to help with the younger siblings. I didn't mind, doing it actually helped me gain a great relationship with each of my siblings. Living out in the country not only gave me a chance to be with my brothers and sisters, but also my mother and father. I remember helping my father with the animals; horses, cows, chickens, you name it we had it.…

I feel that in life it is important to feel comfortable in the world, to feel freedom and happiness in nice places. For example in “ The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton the main character expresses that life in the country would be far superior to that of the city. So ask yourself the same question, where do you think you would be the most happy? Personally I feel comfortable by a lake in a small cabin where you are free to explore and enjoy the fresh air. In conclusion I think that you should go and find a place in the world that is right for you. To travel to in order to find peace.…
