Personal Narrative: Walking The Track
Activities, clubs, and teamwork projects are like a one way ticket to having some fun. The one activity that is offered by my school is walking the track. First, walking the track is exciting because one is able to do more than in regular class. Second, it is very entertaining because most the time can watch high school kids play basketball or do some stretches. Last, it is also pretty interesting because actually one can have some fun rather than being bored in an actually class just speaking the truth. I broke my arm today while getting on the freight train. Thank God I still have an arm unlike some of the other I have meet who have lost an arm or leg and some even know someone who has lost their life ( Riding the Rails). I have done this a couple of time now and I shouldn't have been so anxiety about it but I was. I step aboard the school bus glancing at my sleeping teammates as I make my way down the aisle. The green illumination of my watch is the only thing lighting the way to my seat. My headphones slip from my ears as I kick a freshman out of my spot. “Front of the bus,” I whisper, careful not to wake the motionless sleeping bodies around me. I set my bag down and readjust my earbuds, but my eyes wander to the time displayed on my phone’s screen. 4:32 A.M. I love being a cross country runner, I think to myself sarcastically. As the bus breaks the morning silence and roars alive, I adjust my bag as a pillow and settle in for the ride.…

It was an extremely hot, sunny day in late April, and it was the last track meet of the season. everyone wanted to do their best. In past track meets, I had not mastered the full sprinting form, but as the season progressed, I became a much better runner. I thought that this was my opportunity to show everyone how much I had improved. Each sprinter on the field was sweating and exhausted and the required layer of clothes over our track uniform was not helping.…

I let my right arm hang loose to cover it with the magnesium powder I carry with me. I draw a shaky breath and look up to the top of the invigorating boulder. The cheering of my friends from beneath reduces to ruis in the back of my mind. I concentrate on the remaining two meters I need to distance, tighten every muscle in my body and make the last pass easily. I sigh of relief escapes my mouth. I made it.…

One may think that once Outdoor Track starts in the spring that the conditions are perfect for a runner. However, this sport has certain obstacles that must be overcome to be successful. Besides that, the weather, like the end of the fall, is constantly changing; it can be warm one day and the next day it can be cold. Rather than slacking off and just going through the motions, it takes lots of determination and dedication to stay motivated to compete in the…

Today was the day. The big day. My election for Lieutenant Governor of Division 2B for Key Club, an international service club, was today. Fear and anxiety pricked my skin in rapid movements emanating from every pore. I rehearsed my speech for the fifth time that day. Upon arrival at the Fairfax Library, I urged myself to remain calm. I quickly scouted out the other girls who were present; one girl was dressed professionally with a folder in her hand. I knew that was my competition. The girl spoke eloquently and genially, she radiated enthusiasm and a certain warmth that I did not have. With every question that was asked, she answered with a smooth smile and high-pitched tone that was dripping with sincerity. I bristled inside; I had just been slapped.
