I never really liked sports and never thought I would be good at it. It all started on a fall crisp day while watching a Chicago Hawks game. There are some spots that are hard to skate and I couldn't really skate well and no matter how hard I try I can't land it. There's some stuff I can do and I practice all the time to make sure I can get better I may not be the best, but I try my hardest on skating.Occasionally it's difficult to ride or it's not working out on what you want, but friends help me to do new tricks and that's why on hard spots I try my hardest even if I get a scrape or even a bruise may even have a broken bone but there's always going to be something hard to do but doesn't mean it's impossible the day could be hot or cold making it difficult to skate in but there's always a different spot.…

No one told me about this year-end tournament when I purchased the Frequent Player Card. Perhaps if they sent out a little notice via Facebook or an e-mail reminder, it would draw more players. And, your suggestion to have a ladies division might encourage more to sign up. There is no way we can compete with single-digit men players...if not for a prize, for bragging rights.…

THUMP! The ball was hit into deep left, and it had some distance to it. The infield stared as the ball made contact with the bat and rocketed over their heads. They probably should have covered their base or gone out and get the ball from the outfield but they knew that it was all or nothing. The outfield would determine the fate of the game. The left fielder ran and ran. Finally, the ball came down from space and into the Blake Lindsly’s sure handed glove. Out number two. He looked at the pitcher with an expression that said dodged a bullet there. The team erupted into laughter. Even the coach joined in. Sure, the game was intense, but baseball was a fun game and it took plays like that to have fun.…

The following morning, I skip bike practice again, but Doris goes anyway. At the office, Megan caters to me. On her way in, she stopped at Trader Joe’s to buy me a protein drink with antioxidants from Trader Joe’s, a bottle of chewable Vitamin C and a whole grain carrot muffin. I drink half the bottle and listen as she tells me, “Thom cancelled the development meeting, since he met with you the other day.”…

For as long as I could remember I was always kicking a soccer ball, running around a track or dribbling a basketball towards the net. Growing up with two brothers, one year older and one younger, I was consistently a competitive child. It wasn't until my freshman year that I discovered a passion for a particular sport, field hockey.…

It all began with a simple phone call one night after dinner. “Joe,” my father hollered up the stairs, “it’s for you. It’s Jackie, and she sounds upset.” As I came downstairs to pick up the phone, I was not happy. I was tired and had looked forward to a nice and quiet evening at home, not another stupid adventure with Jackie.…

As I hear those words that I most deeply despise come out her mouth, it quickly led me to think that this woman did not know what she was talking about. Before she had said these words we were talking about our favorite sports and she said hers was basketball and I told her mine was baseball. “Baseball is boring to watch,” she said. Hearing someone say this about my favorite sport that I have been playing throughout my life irritates me and it brings my attention to wonder why people find this sport boring. People similar to this woman, believe that baseball is a boring sport yet they do not realize that it is actually one of America’s most exciting sports!…

The most memorable thing that happened to me was when I first discovered what I’m really good at. I came across inspiring Youtube videos of old classic Roller Derby and recent ones that were published only a year ago, I knew from the moment I laid eyes on those quads that I had to try it. In less than two weeks I was a complete natural at skating, I was all about skates. I practiced all the derby stances, exercises, techniques you name it I am absolutely in love with this sport. but as much as I fantasized about doing it I never thought that I’d actually get the chance to be part of their world and have training by the Derby Dames Juniors Freshmeat Association crew, which are ranked the top thirty-one in the united states!…

Playing Ice Hockey was a burning passion of mine. It all started in the cold and dense locker room. Practice had just finished up and we were inside the locker room getting undressed. I was a forward on the team and was only ten years old. The team goalie was sick and was not going to be able to make our game the next day. Coach asked “Is anyone willing to play goalie for our game?” and I, the young ten year old boy I was; was the first person to quickly respond saying “I will!” Playing goalie was destined for me, I was a star and very talented.…

It all started when we left from the hotel around five o’clock, hoping to get to the CN Tower on time. We were on vacation in Toronto in mid July, we had just arrived here a day ago from Niagara Falls. When we left we would have never imagined that this would be one of the longest walks some of us have taken. Pleasantly, we left for the CN Tower, which we thought couldn’t be a great amount of distance from our hotel. We were wrong!…
