Personal Narrative: The City Of Miami
The city of Miami, Florida, is my premier vacation getaway. Miami is not only a global center, but it is also a city recognized worldwide for its magnificent location. It offers endless amounts of entertainment for people of all ages. The turquoise crystalline beaches make Miami a one-of-a-kind city. The soothing, salty breezes of the coastal weather in Miami create an atmosphere that coalesces the exhilaration of the city with the relaxation of the beach. Food is essential when it comes to a vacation, and this city offers an array of national and international cuisines. Miami offers it all! Entertainment is a must when on vacation. Miami is no exception when it comes to world-class entertainment. Exotic nightclubs from the corner

Until recently Atlanta was the perfect vacation “fun” spot, but my mind quickly changed in July of this year when I visited Florida. I was blown away from the various different things you can do and see; starting from the zoos, straight to the water parks, Broadway shows and theme parks. This amazed me because each of them caters to all age groups of children and adults which make it perfect for anyone to attend. When in Florida there is no doubt that you would be bored. It is an extremely fun place to take a vacation.…

After filing a motion against him, I let my lawyer do his job. Because he was a close friend he extended his normal duties and gave it all he could to help me win. Since Shaq lived in Miami, I had to get another lawyer to file another motion because we had to be in his jurisdiction. I flew to Miami and we sat with a mediator for 8 hours trying to come up with a solution. Shaq did not show he must of thought it was not that important to take time out of his life. Although we were there for a serious situation, Miami was nice, amazing food, beautiful weather, and a lot of things that would make me want to go back. Coming back home empty handed I thought it was disappointing.…

"Miami no es los Estados Unidos" (Miami is not the United States) is a phrase that I heard many times while growing up in Miami. It is problematic, because at its core lies the idea that a city that is teeming with Latinx/Hispanic immigrants could not be representative of what the United States "really" is. An idea that is pervasive but that unnecessarily emphasizes the vibrant culture of Miami, and underplays the socioeconomic inequality that exists in many other cities. As an immigrant I have grown up as a part of communities that are often considered under-served, and that consistently struggled financially. Something that I was aware of from a young age, and that truly shaped the way I looked at my future. With every time that my mom woke…

Despite the several hurricanes that have occurred in Florida the past couple years, I think it's safe to say that Florida can also be a pleasant place to live. With its mostly sunny weather, friendly disposition, and many exciting attractions, Florida almost doesn't seem like the type of place to have such horrific weather at times. I, personally, even after knowing so many good qualities about the sunshine state, still am not convinced that Florida would be a nice place to live.…

In my experience, I don’t think I am reluctant to a specific identity. Houston is a very diverse city that people can find almost any type of music genre. In my community there are Hispanic and African American families. The music that is heard is of all kinds from “R&B, Pop music, Reggae, to Cumbia, Bachata and Regional Mexicano.” I have lived in the same community ever since I was born and in my opinion, I have grown up listening to the different types of music genres. This has shaped my identity to be open to different music genres and traditions.…

I am a true Floridian born and raised for the first fourteen years of my life in Homestead, Florida. My childhood growing up was difficult due to my mother’s breast cancer diagnosis, which profoundly affected my life. Being an only child and the thought of possibly losing my mother to cancer was devastating, especially since my father was absent the majority of my life. During my middle school years, I struggled so my mother decided to homeschool me. In 2011, my family relocated to Lakeland, Florida and I entered high school at Victory Christian Academy developing new friendships along with fond memories. Following graduation in 2015, the next year of my life was spent contemplating decisions on whether to register for college or obtain…

A life in the ghetto is no life at all. Especially in Molesville, Pennsylvania, a town left in the dust by modern society. Ever since I can remember my mother has been sick, this terrible place is the cause. With little sanitation the streets are rat infested and the poor die young. We had not had enough money, when my father left us, to afford food to live with, let alone go get help from a doctor. After my mother’s pregnancies she gradually became more and more sick. I thought my mother was in pain from the way she sat on her bed constantly crying. That theory was proven one day when her will to fight died. She transformed into a being of hatred. Her heart turned as black as the night. She was different, the mother I once knew dead. Although I knew she was still there, deep, deep down waiting for me to rescue her from herself. In almost an instant I decided the only way to save her was to earn the money for…

I can spend my summers hiking and exploring, and, when the wintertime comes, a skiing vacation has never required traveling more than a couple of hours. But this year, my parents have surprised my sister and I with the news that we will be traveling to Florida for a week-long vacation.…

Tourism is a very complex issue and before we can begin to analyze the varying impacts it as on the region, we must first understand exactly what tourism is. Tourism has many definitions, according to Goeldner & Ritchie, “tourism is the processes, activities and outcomes arising from the relationships and the interactions among tourists, tourism suppliers, host government, host communities and surrounding environments that are involved in the attracting and hosting of visitors.” It can be classified into three types; domestic, that is, within the boundaries of one country. Regional, which refers to travel within a set geographical location or international which is travel from one country to another in a different geographical location. Contrary to popular believe, domestic tourism is the most dominant of the three forms as it accounts for about 80% of tourist trips worldwide, but with regards to the Caribbean, it is international tourism that is dominant and most beneficial to the region.…
