Personal Narrative: Statehouse Expo Center
I walked into the doors of Statehouse Expo Center, my feet walking with the sound of my bag rolling over the little cracks on the light floor tile, my white uniform as crisp as a fall breeze. With every step further, I could see more people. Lots more people. The mats filled with people. People who spend their whole lives working to be where they are, on those mats. Sparring, combat, weapons and forms. XMA in one corner, Black Belts in another corner, everyone else in a corner and staging in a corner. All surrounded by a Sr. Master or the occasional Master. When we get to a tournament, our team always meets up. Then all the kids go explore. We found our team and all the kids put away their IPads and Kindle Fires. “Who wants to look at the …show more content…
Mom said you could give me 15 dollars so I could go to the shop! Can I have it?” He gave me the 15 dollars and and I ran to the shop. I kept looking and decided on a dragon ninja stuffed toy, a mouthguard case and a small cup with all the ATA Tigers on it. By that time, they were about ¾ of the way down the list. Because they were half way done, it was time to practice. I went to one of the practice rings, and did the “Impossible Form” with my nunchucks. Then I did green belt form. I practiced and practiced for a hour and then they called my ring. “All 9 and 10 camo through blue belts go to ring 19 all 9 and 10 camo through blue belts to ring 19. I got my mom and we ran to ring 19. There were about 50 girls so they had to separate us. I got put in with the 11 and 12 year olds and I was freaking out. “Mom! I'm with the 11 and 12 year olds! I'm only 9! I shouldn't be here!”
She replied, “It's ok. Do your best no matter what.”
The judge called the people one by one until the 3rd person went. Scores were gave. It was then my turn. I went to the middle ring. I tripped on my uniform, got up and did my form wrong. I completely flipped out and melted. I was sobbing on the red and blue mat. Then the master judge came over to me and asked “Would you like to try again? We can only give you 3 points but you can go again.”
I got up and went on the mat. I did my form again and did it right. I got a 3,3,3. I sat back down and was called to do my weapons. I dropped them, but I finished right and got a 6,7,4. Then it was time to go home and then we were done with worlds for a

Brittany shot at Lake, and got him. Lake had to go sit on the bench. The paintball hurt really bad, at least that's what he said. Brittany and I love Shawn so much that we had to win for him. Ethan was the only one left on the other team, so both of us made a plan. We shot Ethan at the same time with the paintball gun, and we got him. We won and we were so happy. We had to save Shawn’s live because we love him so much. Mrs.Grable told us that we had 15 minutes to win this if we wanted to save Shawn. Since we won the first game, we had to sit and wait for Kirsten and Titi, to go up against Chloe and Lily. This time they weren't using paintball guns. Both teams lined up, and waited for Mrs.Grabel to say go, but this time is different. They had materials they could use that were lined up in a line. Then Mrs.Grabel said,…

On October 2nd, 2015, Wasilla High School and Palmer High School have a football Potato Bowl game. This is the last football game of the year and its the rivalry game. Anyways that day I was with a couple of my friends and streaking got brought into conversation. And one of them suggested I did it at the potato bowl, and I agreed. So I called a couple of people and asked if they wanted to do it. One Palmer boy and one Colony boy said that they would do it with me, so I went to the store and bought red, blue, and green and white paint. The plan was to paint all of our bodies our school colors, with a white W, P and C on the all of our chests. As the night got later and time got closer to doing it, both of the boys chickened out. Everyone after that started saying I wasn't gonna do it, and doubting me. Im the type of person who doesn't like getting told to do, and when kids are telling me Im not gonna do something, I have to. Im a daredevil. So you can probably guess what I did that night.…

This weekend I went to the Kansas, State Fair! I took my best friend Tori Foust. I have took her since the third grade since my brother started college when I was in second grade, so I had no one to go on rides with. When we arrived at the fair we went straight to the stables. While we were at the stables we saw a girl who looked about eight or nine years old. She was walking a beautiful tan horse with a white pattern! She asked if we would like to pet her horse, and of course we said yes. After the stables we went started to go on rides! My very favorite ride was the Star ship! The star ship is closed off it you stand in front of a padded board with wheels underneath it. It starts to spin really fast, so the board goes up and down with you…

My level was definitely not ready for the diamonds, blues were my style, not too easy but not too hard. The lift up must of taken at least 45 minutes. The air blowing on you when you are already as cold as a snowman made me feel frigid. The trees swaying in the air and the smell of hot cocoa as we passed a rest stop on the hill. I was so anxious to get to the bottom and sit in a warm room, but excited to show my moves. When we got to the top we realized we had gone up the wrong lift, and that meant the only way down was the black diamonds. Furious, I knew that I was not going to enjoy the way down. “You knew didn’t you?” Blaming everyone around me. Then starting down the slope, falling at least twice every minute. My face was red and I was unable to see anything, the fear of frostbite overtook me because I was so cold. Just waiting for this to be over with! Tress appeared out of nowhere and snow made its way through my gloves. My hands were as cold as a witch’s heart. I must of made it down after 400 hours of tears and madness. When we got down to the base of the mountain there was Sam and my Dad waiting to go to lunch. My stomach was not up for it after tossing and turning. I just wanted to go home and be alone, so off I marched to the hotel room. Waiting for them to go down one hill and come back. I was left with an hour of heat and a hotel room all to myself. Might of sounded extravagant now, but it seemed awful at the…

It was the morning of December 19th, and I woke up feeling nothing but fear. I knew that I had every skill perfected to my ability, but I still had that worry that I was going to screw up, and mess up everything. ”Get ready to go guys!” My mom yelled to me and my brother. (He was testing too.) I put on my uniform, tied on my nominal belt, (the belt before black) and tied up my hair. Then I said to myself, ”I can do it.” We got in the car, and off we were. I was trying to be as positive as possible, and I kept telling myself that I could do it. When we arrived at U.S. Elite Martial Arts, (Taekwondo school) I glanced across the audience, and saw all of my family and friends. I definitely was now worried that I was going to mess up. We had about 10-15 minutes to warm up on our own, and I was just getting more and more nervous. Finally, that timer went off, and we started the test. I remember looking back at my mom with a face full of worry. She mouthed to me, ”You can do it.” We started off with a series of different exercises and conditioning. The first part of the conditioning hour was running. We had to do sprints, laydowns, suicides, jump roping, and running around the perimeter of the dojo, going back and forth between running, shuffling, and skipping. I felt the sweat dripping down my face, and my face turning as red as a tomato. Then after, we did exercises like push ups, sit ups, leg raises, squats, etc. Finally, the first hour was over. I felt pretty good about myself, but then I realized that we just finished the easiest part, and I was already sweating bullets. Next, we got into boxing. We had our own personal instructor, and they had to evaluate our boxing combinations and drills. When that ended, my knuckles hurt so bad, I felt like I punched a brick wall. We continued to do basics after that like kicking, more boxing, and sparring. I couldn't believe how well I was doing and that I hadn't messed up yet. The last few parts of the test…

Finally it was time to go in to the meeting. I had walked in there and I saw a fake tree in every corner of the room, and a circle of chairs right smack in the middle of the room. There was a table against a wall that had coffee and snacks on it if we got hungry, or thirsty. We all sat down in a circle as a group. The instructor introduced herself, and told us how much she appreciates us all here with her. She then gave us the topic of the night. The topic was “What you are improving in your life?” After she had told us about what the topic of the night was going to be, she asked that we go around the circle and everyone say there name, and why they are here. Every time a person said there name and why they were here, everyone said…

Unlike others, Mr. Mora took the time to teach me basic techniques and showmanship skills. He pointed out the proper ways of dressing and catching the judge’s attention as soon as entering the ring. Finding out that there was money involved when it came to winning first through third place, I knew paying attention was the key to success. Learning new skills was not only going to require physical and intense labor, but mental focus if I wanted to be at the top with in the winner’s circle.…
