Personal Narrative: She's In Arizona For Spring Break
She’s in Arizona for Spring Break and she wants to know what happened that day. The day everything changed.
Please? I was barely a year old then, the girl asked.
Yeah, and I was barely thirteen, the sister replied. Age isn’t the issue right now.
Mom will tell me if you won’t, the girl tried.
Fine I will tell you.
And she began.

She was just a kid when it happened, only thirteen. She got up early one saturday morning and went into the living room. One of her neighbors was there, cradling her baby sister, who had just turned one. The neighbor was a girl around seventeen.
Not to be rude, but what are you doing here? the kid asked.
Oh, I’m just babysitting. Your mom had to go somewhere.
Where did she go?
Well, she had to go to the doctor to see Brad, because he got in a car accident last night. The kid didn’t really think much of it.

the kid asked, mildly concerned.
I haven’t heard anything yet but I’m sure he’ll be okay.” So they went about their day normally. Finally, a few hours later the kid’s mom came home, and she was with someone. The person she was with was trying to help the mom explain to the kid and her little brother what had happened. She told them that Brad had fallen asleep on his motorcycle and got in an accident.
Is he going to be okay? the kid asked. And the church person explained to the kid and the brother that he had died during the accident. Everyone started crying. The kid was upset that she had gotten in a meaningless argument before, and there was nothing she could do. The rest of the day, people from the church as well as random family members all brought them food. Their house was full of all sorts of muffins and casseroles for almost a week. About a week later, there was a funeral. That’s when everything became real, that’s when everything

It was a chilly day on March 6, 2007. Me and my family were on 495 going to the Holy Cross Hospital with a slight delay of traffic. For some reason, I kept fiddling with my fingers, I was really nervous to see him. We took the exit 31A and we all shifted to the left since it was a sharp turn to the right. My big sister, Maisie, was on my shoulder and we shifted her head fell on my lap. She woke up and asked where we were. “We are almost there Maisie” my Dad said. We stopped at the traffic light and I fiddled with my fingers some more. “Stop fiddling with your fingers!” Maisie whispered to me. In my head, I say “I can’t, he is the first boy of the family, the first! Besides me!” I stopped fiddling and looked at the huge structure in front of me, The Holy Cross Hospital.…

The moment I picked up my phone I knew something was wrong. The tone of my friend Danny’s voice sounded very grave and worn. The reason why followed in lowly uttered words. “CJ is in the hospital.” In sort of a daze I rushed to the hospital and found a way into the Intensive Care Unit. There in the bed was my friend with two broken arms and internal damage to his kidneys. At his side sat his mom. When I asked what happened, she said that Cj was hit off of Brooks Bridge by a drunk driver. A thirty-foot fall into the ground below, landing in the grass. Cj was two-inches away from the stone hard concrete that could’ve ended his life.…

The feel of 80 degree temperature, the sound of splashing water, and a super long car ride? Everything but the car ride was awesome! On my spring break this year we took a very long and boring car trip down to Arizona. It was a 18+ hour car trip just going there! I mostly slept and read the way there. First, we visited Arizona state and Arizona University. Then, we stayed at my Grandma and Grandpa’s house. But, what I mostly liked about my spring break was in Arizona there was 80-90 degree temperatures!…

It was a surprisingly warm night during the summer. Everyone in the house was sound asleep in their rooms except for me. I was watching a show on the laptop in my room when out of nowhere I hear a bone chilling scream from the neighbor’s house next door. Before I knew it I was out of bed putting on my shoes to see what was happening. When I opened the front door I saw a bunch of other neighbors turning on porch lights to see what was going on too. What I saw next I could never un-see, it was the sweet old man that lived next door crouching over his blood stained wife. The problem with this image though is what he didn’t do. He wasn’t crying over her body in sorrow, nor was he standing in shock, instead his face was covered in blood and…
