Personal Narrative: Pursuing Recreational Writing

As a child, I was always told that I had a knack for writing well. All throughout my grade school years, my teachers and parents would suggest to me that I should focus more on this gift. However, to be bluntly honest, nothing truly sparked my interest toward pursuing recreational writing.

Since the early years of my educational background, writing presented itself to me as more of a chore than it did a creative hobby. Throughout the years, many teachers fell short in their attempts to inspire me to truly enjoy writing. These attempts, more of than not, included copious ammounts of academic writing, which perpetually solidified my view that the only way writing could be presented was in the form of a laborious chore.
