Personal Narrative: My Next Part Of The Carbon Cycle
In the atmosphere was where I started. Seventy five years I was there. A carbon atom in a carbon dioxide molecule was what I was. A Pinyon pine tree going through photosynthesis took me from the atmosphere. After I left my home, I converted into a tissue in a Pinyon pine needle. This was only the first part of the cycle, and I was going to the biosphere-plant. A new territory, the biosphere-plant. Accordingly, I existed as a tissue in a Pinyon pine needle. For two months I stayed like that. Then a deer came by and chomped up my entire branch. Changing forms again, this time I turned into part of the deer’s bone protein. Completing the second stop on the cycle, I move onto the biosphere-animal, the third stop. In the biosphere-animal, there I was. For five years I was part of the deer's bone …show more content…
Soon, I should be going into yet another part of the carbon cycle. Twenty one years later, I dissolved into the Little Colorado River. Accordingly, I transformed into a carbonate ion rather than staying as carbon dioxide. My freedom in the atmosphere done with, I now resided in the hydrosphere, the seventh stop. While in the hydrosphere, I moved from the Little Colorado River to Lake Powell. Twenty four years I spent as a carbonate ion in Lake Powell. Nevertheless, that ended with me going into a snail's shell as calcium carbonate. The snail then died and layers of sedimentary rock buried it. The shell became limestone, turning me into limestone as well. Finally, I made it to the last stage of the cycle, the lithosphere-limestone. The lithosphere-limestone was my last stop before my final destination. My form while I was there was Kaibab limestone. Millions of years I spent in that form, until some humans mined me. The humans used me to make cement which oxidized me in the process, turning me into carbon dioxide. In conclusion, I finally went back to the

The Grand Canyon is a canyon divided by the Colorado River flowing at its bottom and its walls are decorated by different color layers of rock. It is due to this rock deposition and layering that the canyon has become a spot for geologist to study and of great tourism. As you can see in the image below, the canyon has eighteen (18) different rocks layers and three (3) sets of rocks. At the very bottom it’s the Vishnu basement rocks that date back to approximately 1,200 million years in age, which denotes the earliest rock sediment for the canyon in that area. At the very top is the Kailab limestone dating 270 million years ago. This limestone was actually formed under the ocean as geologists have discovered. But due to tectonic plate action, the plateau was uplifted and the canyon gradually changed over the years. Today the kailab limestone rises up to 9,000 feet in height.…

    3. If I were a particle traveling though the hydrologic cycle I would begin by bathing in the sun on the surface of the ocean, then slowly after absorbing the heat I would then condense into the air as water vapor and begin my process of precipitation. After being in the sky for a little bit I would find a frightful thunder cloud and squeeze my skinny self, inside of it until it busted like a water balloon and give back to the ocean as a raindrop. Once the sun popped back through the thunderstorm clouds I would eventually start my journey over again.…

This time we entered another slide, tube like thing from the top of it. This time we mixed yet again with other liquids. Once again the watery slimy liquid that I saw in the human wet cave is back. These liquids were from everywhere though, I have a feeling that's where they all go to come together. We are embarking on another journey, this time with everyone. We enter yet another set of tubes. But this time we went our separate ways. All the water that I had mentioned was removed from our cluster. I was also released from my cluster. I had never been so happy in my life. I met up back again with the water and we travel down the tubes. As we’re going down I see a little light, and I thought to myself, “Is this it, have I escaped?”. We went down faster and faster and I cannot believe my eyes, I SAW THE LIGHT. In a matter of seconds I was out. I recall saying, “Thank you paper god! I thought I was a…

    The Grand Canyon: Geology

The first layer of sediment dating back 250 mil years ago existed during a time where the area was submerged in water. This is evident by its Kaibab limestone formations and marine animal fossils. Going a layer down we find evidence of what the GC was like 260 million years ago. Cocoino sandstone shows evidence that the Grand Canyon was above sea level with footprints of vertebrate animals confirming. If we go further, we start uncovering 265 million year old Hermit shale and land dwelling animal fossils. This shows during this time the grand canyon was still above sea level. Go another layer down and we hit the 285 million year old Supia Formation. This layer was a mix of both sheals and limestone's which makes it hard to tell weather or not it was or was not above sea level. However, due to the larger amounts of limestone scientists believe it to be more of a marine layer. The next layer is around 320million years old. Its a layer of Redwall limestone that is roughly 500ft high and typically drops at a 90 degree angle. This layer, due to its limestone nature and fossil content was created during a time of submergence. The next three layers make up the layer grouping labeld as the Tonto Group. The youngest layer of this group is The Mauv limestone formation, found below redwall limestone and they too were created while underwater. Trilobite fossils are abundant here. below the Muav we find a layer of Bright Angle Shale signifing the grand canyon was abouve sea level…

Nearing the end of the tube I can almost see the shore, It feels as if I've been riding this wave for days. This wave is my hurdle in the ocean that is life, choppy at the beginning but slowly passing by. The ocean has many waves, one for each surfer to ride, my specialty wave happened to be dyslexia. It was in the second grade that my teacher first realized I was different from the other students, because I had yet to read my first book. My parents had found this odd as well, and took me to see a neurologist, who diagnosed me as having dyslexia. I did not quite know what this meant at the time, I only knew that it was the reason I could not comprehend the topics as easily as my classmates.…

It is the summer of 1754 and I have moved to a piece of farm land that I’ve inherited from my late father. I am now a farmer and even though I do not have a degree in geology, I have decided to study geology as I am farming.(About 2013). As I observe the land, there are many things I have discovered about the Earth. It is believed the Earth came into existence on October 22, 4004 B.C. I now believe the Earth is being formed. I have recognized Earth’s history. I have discovered that fossils are the remains from animals that perished from the Biblical Flood. Once such process is erosion and sedimentation both work present day. Sediments deposited form the water compress to become stone. Sedimentation slowly takes place and older rocks are made of materials from ruins of older continents. When rock is exposed to the atmosphere it erodes and decays and this is called the great geological cycle. Molten material can be forced into the mountains, it erodes, and then the eroded materials get washed away. The Earth’s interior is extremely hot and the processes long ago that caused the changing of the Earth are still the same processes present day.
