Personal Narrative: My Network Assessment
My network assessment revealed that I have a medium size, medium density network of colleagues. This provides me with both closure and brokerage opportunities. Because my network is minuscule and dense, the avenues to access innovative ideas, resources, and opportunities are abundant. Having a high level of trust and confidence in the individuals in my network provides me with an opportunity to execute plans between people in my network and myself. Because of the strong ties and positive nature within my network, the likelihood of meeting goals and receiving favorable outcomes with potential opportunities and networking possibilities. Unfortunately, the downside to being involved in such a dense network is that it can adversely affect my leadership …show more content…
I am a high promotion-focused individual, striving every day to perform my job to the best of my ability. The upside to this is the ability to foster creative, abstract, and forward thinking. Themes and patterns are easily noticeable to an individual with a motivational style similar to mine. However, there are weaknesses to being a high promotion individual. I can be careless and commit avoidable errors, or I could undergo a risk on something that does not pay off. Another weakness listed is saying “yes” to several tasks and ending up overwhelmed. This one specifically strikes home, as I do not benefit from telling my boss that I cannot accomplish something, consequently, it has proven problematic for me. Low prevention-focus means that I might have trouble with thoughtful planning, anticipating problems, and being detail oriented. However, it has benefits. I do not hesitate to switch gears when necessary, nor do I move at a slow pace to avoid errors. This ties directly into my high promotion-focus that can label yours truly careless and commit avoidable errors. Once I start something, I prefer to finish and distractions can be frustrating. Putting an emphasis on a decisions likelihood of success, in addition to being decisive is an attribute of a strong locomotor. Discovering myself as a high locomotor since it is a valuable quality in becoming a leader, something I strive to be now and in the future. Getting your bearings, not rushing into a decision without comparing pros and cons, is a quality that high assessors have, it is also a valuable quality of a leader. Critical evaluation of myself and others is a trait associated with this motivational style. Sensitivity to mistakes and setbacks is another attribute of high assessors, subsequently, it is likely that I will learn from mistakes, and not repeat them. Placing an emphasis on potential value in the decision-making process, and considering options thoroughly

Now this is where I`m supposed to write “all about me”. This is where I become lost. I mean, come on. I wouldn`t know where to start. But I guess the best way to have an idea what makes me tick and what ticks me off is by checking my journal that i fill with endless ramblings about whatever and whoever catches my fleeting fancy or rage. :)…

My story beings like any other, at the moment I took my first breath on July 30th 1998 in Bilisht, Albania. I was born in a small town in the lower region of Albania where my entire family lived with my grandparents under one household. My parents soon came to the realization that the current living situation was incongruous for a new family, such as ours, to thrive. As the result, my parents chose to apply for the government program granting our family access to move into a completely new society with new laws, regulations, political aspects and that was tens of thousands of miles away. Our family, at that instant, had a struck of luck as my mother’s name was drawn for us to move to the greatest country the United States of America.…

Throughout my life I have encountered many circumstances that have shaped me into the person I am today. I was born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico. I attended school in Mexico all the way to second grade. In the summer of 2006 I moved to Cumming, Georgia. It was the hardest thing to do because I left everything that I care the most about. We lived in a trailer which was not the nicest place and in the middle of the forest. I started school at the beginning of August. I had always loved school so I was so excited for the first day. I knew it was going to be hard because I would have to conquer so many obstacles on the way. At this time the only English I knew was probably counting from one to ten and some of the colors. My Father knew some…

A personal quality that is important to me is my willingness to try new things. This quality did not surface until I graduated high school-- I felt somewhat restricted during those years. After my first semester at community college the eagerness to explore new activities, and learn about new topics began to appear. Because of this quality-- a quality that can sometimes hide amongst the rest-- I would not have discovered by passion for my desired major.…

Who am I? That has always been an essential question for as long as I can remember. I never really understood why we had to answer that question along the way, but I’m now a senior at SJPII and I still have no idea who I am. It really bothers me that for 16 years I still haven’t figured out who I am. Constantly going from class to class and making new friends I still can’t pin point who the “real” me is.…

I feel that I am qualified to be an officer because I was a member, Vice-President, and then President of my high school’s volunteer club (Interact Club). I went to a small, Christian private school, and the club was student-lead with minimal help from our two faculty sponsors. The Interact Club was my greatest achievement in high school. Before my Secretary, and then Vice President and I came into office, even at our small school, many students, teachers and faculty were unaware of what Interact was and what we did in the community. We brought a new aura, publicity, worked exclusively with our Head of School, designed brand new t-shirts, brought in a new executive board, financial sponsors, and hosted our school’s very first talent show where…

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Are you pleased, or do you immediately come up with an endless list of insecurities? As a child one of my favorite memories was laying around the house with my older sister on rainy days. We would leave the windows open so we could hear the rain coming down on the tin roof over our patio, while watching reruns of our favorite tv show “America's Next Top Model”. I always thought that these women were gorgeous and I would catch myself constantly comparing their looks to my own. I wanted to be just like them until I realized the unrealistic expectations that they had to live up to. A sizeable butt and breasts, but not too large; they have got to be proportional. A skinny waist, impeccable hair, blemish free face although even with clear skin you are expected to cake on makeup because no one is actually pretty without mile long eyelashes, the perfect smoky eye, and exemplary contouring. Society has idolized these things as “beautiful” and shamed the girls that do not meet these standards; however, society should be making everyone feel confident in their bodies. Girls need to know that it is okay not to have an “hourglass figure” so they don’t…

Change. From the first breath inhaled to the last, we change hundreds, thousands, of millions of times throughout the entirety. These changes may not always be so obvious, whereas others are blaringly distinct. Change is inevitable, especially as the environment, technology, economy, and people develop. Us, human beings, we are flexible, able to adapt and survive. However, as we adapt to these changes, we can not let these changes compromise our beliefs and principles by which we abide and hold close to our hearts.…

My actions are always a direct showcase of my personal characteristics. A few that are particularly important are having patience, being non-judgmental, and thinking creatively. I learned a majority of my patience through my position as a research position. Research does not have immediate results; a good experiment takes time. My seemingly menial tasks, such as entering data, eventually contributed to the final product. I learned to be non-judgmental in my time shadowing an obstetrician, where I interacted with patients with so many stories. To judge them would cause a disservice, and potentially harm them. Finally, I learned to think creatively during my time at the Guild for Human Services. Each student was unique in his or her problems,…

Growing up with divorced parents from two radically different cultures was at first difficult. My mother’s family was from Peru, while my father’s was from Bangladesh. In my young mind, there was an internal struggle with what my identity actually consisted of. I wasn’t wholly from one culture or the other, and felt like a black sheep when interacting with either side of my family. Due to this, I attempted to keep these cultures partitioned. At the time, they were different portions of my life that simply couldn’t intermix. This mentality in turn led me to foolishly shy away from my joint heritage. I kept myself enclosed in a box, blind to the beauty of my surrounding culture. However, as time progressed, I knew I had to make a change in my understanding.…

When I was growing up, whenever I brought friends home, I would warn them about my mom’s singing. “She sings opera, so don’t be scared if you hear her when we go in”, I’d tell them. My mom majored in biology, but her real passion was opera. She would sing even louder when she saw my friends, her voice echoing around the house as I stood there, embarrassed. My dad also majored in biology, and eventually received PhD in natural resource management. However, he decided to work in the telecommunications industry, creating his own company. His fondness for technology resulted in the middle names for my sister and I: Lan (local area network) for me, and Wan (wireless area network) for my sister.…

Rapper, Jermaine Cole once said, “You have to hurt in order to know, fall in order to grow, lose in order to gain; because most of life’s lessons are learned in pain.” This quote has taught me how to deal with hard life situations, using my three most apparent traits. I am caring, silly, and family oriented. And although those traits are bad depending on the situation, they are also some of the best perks of my personality. Each drawing on my mandala describes a difficult, or great moment in my life. All of these events have showed at least one of the three main personality traits that describe me.…

I see myself as someone who is expressive. I am an outgoing girl and I find making friends to be a simple task. However, I am one of those people who will not fully open up to you unless I know I am comfortable. I am an open book, as long as the person reading me takes it one page at a time and doesn't jump chapters. I believe that I am this was because of how I grew up. I learned early on that you can't trust everyone you know, and you can't keep toxic people around. Day in and day out at school, I always tried to fit the mold of the stereotypical highschool student. Timid and shy, but more than willing to fit in with everyone else. Finally as a senior I have realized it is more important to be seen as yourself than as a copy of everyone else…
