Personal Narrative: My Journey At UC Merced
As I began my journey at UC Merced, I was a bit scared as what to expect. After getting through the first two weeks of school, I knew I was up for the challenge. I just had to focus and priorities my tasks. Since I live off-campus it was a bit difficult to make friends, so I felt a bit lonely. I decided to take initiative and attend the various events the school has to offer to meet and interact with new people. Attending the events the school had to offer, resulted me in meeting some people who shared many things with me. All of us just clicked and became friends in no time we all knew this year would be epic. Still I was a bit lonely because I would only see them when I went to school. Most of my friends at my hometown left far away for college and said they weren’t coming back for a while. I didn’t let that stop me from having some fun, so we decide to join the Intramural Soccer Tournament at the school. …show more content…
I will be setting up and appointment to meet up with my professor and just talk about the difficulties I face in the classroom, and hopefully I get guided towards the right direction. I know that nobody is going to be holding my hand all the time, therefore I have seek out help whenever I need it. I’m still getting used to from the transition of high school to college. The way I try to view this first semester is to treat it as a learning experience. I knew I was going to have difficulty in at least one of my classes, and now I have a better understanding on how I can handle the situation. I will always ask questions whenever I run into problems because that is one thing I see students are a bit shy or uncomfortable doing. I will not let stress take over me as well because that can only bring problems. A simple way to prevent that is to always be on top of my A game in all my classes so I won’t have to

Hello, Dr. Grubaugh. You are an amazing professor and really funny at times. College has been really different from what I have always thought it will be. I thought of college being the most fun time of my life, but it has been stressful. I do enjoy working on myself and improving on my work. Every time I score poor, I study harder for next time. I have not participated in any of the event yet. I always think of being more active on campus events but I guess I am not out going enough for that. However, I have made some friends and for new years night, I and one of my friend have planed visit New York City.…

I began working at Keeter my first semester at College of the Ozarks. On my first day of work, the supervisor handed me a gleaming gold name tag that not only had my name but the state I came from. I watched as others put their nametags on, and I quickly discovered that most of them read Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. I looked down at my nametag and felt a sense of uniqueness, knowing no one in the room had the state of Virginia. I soon began to realize that my nametag sparked curiosity when the guests saw how far I had traveled. Guest after guest would ask the same question, “How did you end up here?” I answered this question dozens of times within a day. There were days that I would begrudgingly tell the Keeter guests my journey to this College, but never once did I fail to cherish the opportunity I was given.…

Also I am going to talk to him and ask him what kind of things I can do to improve myself as a writer. Then I will talk to my Math 1090 teacher and see what extra credit opportunities I have to improve my grade and bring in a previous test that I didn’t do so well on so she can tell me my mistakes and possibly help figure out my mistakes. Hopefully from my visits with my professors I will learn how to be a better student in that class and how to improve my grade and be a better…

My first few weeks of classes at UW-Platteville have surprisingly been fun and brought many opportunities of clubs I did not think I would join. When I imagined going to college for the first time, I thought I would cry and be homesick. To not be homesick I told myself to be involved with the Welcome Weekend activities and it worked! My classes were intimidating on the first day, but now that we have had many classes I am comfortable. I am using my time management skills everyday because I have many meetings to attend. Overall, I am glad I choose to continue my education at UW-Platteville because it feels like home.…

During my educational journey specifically at the high school, my goal was to be a best student in our year group. But I could not achieve it. I could not achieve it because, I thought I could do all my academical alone. I could not management my time well and also reframe myself from leadership and other peer responsibilities. With this behavior, I could not have much information about what is going around on campus and the available platforms to learn and explore more.…

The school aspect of college hasn't really sunk in yet since were not very far into the semester. It definitely concerns me somewhat, but I think I will end up doing well. I naturally have a good work ethic through hockey, so I plan on using that into the classroom. Sure it will be harder sometimes because of practices and games and whatnot, but thats what my teammates and the rest of the accommodations that Potsdam supplies for us are for. It's a good start for me professor wise, since pretty much all of them seem to be very good at what they do. The only thing that has gotten me a little annoyed and anxious about is all the reading. Reading takes up a lot of time and that what most of college is. My time management needs to be very efficient if I'm going to do well this year. I hope my next four years here will just keep getting better and better as I meet new people and explore new things. There is still so much I haven't done yet and so many experiences I have to look forward too as long as my school works stays up to…

It was the morning of move in day. I said goodbye to my home and headed out. I passed the local shopping market and my high school where I enjoyed a fun four years. As I headed to Norman I realized I was leaving everything I had ever known. All my life has consisted of living in the same house, going to school with the same kids, and going to the same supermarkets and restaurants. While I’d like to say I have developed a good idea of the world around me by visiting so many cities around the United States, in reality the only world I’ve ever known is the same one I have spent my whole life in. I have loved growing up in Northwest Oklahoma City with the friends that have helped shaped me into who I am today, however I relished the opportunity…

The event that I choose to follow summer fest was a simple and casual visit to the wellness and recreational center, fancy way of saying the gym. Upon my first ever visit to Florida International University I still remember at our freshmen orientation entering the gym and thinking to myself this seems like a place that I will be visiting often during my four year tenure at school. And boy was I right, the facility was clean and professional looking very much like a professional gym would appear, the staff where all kind and ready to assist you if help was ever necessary, something that I truly valued. I was extremely exited to take a spinning class at the FIU gym, I had only ever heard positive reviews and I was looking forward to the experience as well. Personally I am obsessed with fitness so any class, or activity is something that I love to experience which is what drove me to experience the class myself, and did, I love it. When I got out of that class I was sweating so much, I felt like I had gone on a run around the world and it so amazing, the instructor knew exactly what she was doing and had no problem helping you out if you needed it, the music was fun and exiting extremely up tempo. Overall I can only rave about the experience, it was positive and motivational. It has truly inspired me to no matter how stressed I may be I can always go down to the gym and relieve my stress while gaining a benefit as well.…

Through my short 7 weeks here at St. Olaf I have had many different experiences. First, when I arrived for football camp on August 12th. Initially I felt uncomfortable, out of place in somewhere new where I really didn’t know anyone. On the other hand it was intriguing, such a beautiful place on a hill, where you feel on top of the world. Then, it was time to say bye to my parents for the first time in 18 years. That made everything more uncomfortable and made me feel more confused, which I am sure every freshman felt. Starting to meet the rest of the freshman and make friends was easier then I thought, because all of us were new here, and looking for people to talk to. Throughout a long-lasting two and a half weeks of camp friendships started…
