Personal Narrative: My First Roller Coaster
We were about to take off when all of a sudden, they stopped us. Over the summer my family and I went to Silver Dollar City. We’ve been there many times before but this day was different from the rest. It was the first time I have ever rode a roller coaster. I am very afraid of heights which is why I’ve never rode one before this summer.
Some time in the middle of the summer, my family and I went to Silver Dollar City. I decided that today was the day that i would finally face my fears and ride my first roller coaster. My older sister, older brother, and my dad and I rode roller coasters all day that day and come to find out, I really enjoy them. Then my mom started feeling bad so she decided it was time to leave. “One more, mom? Please!” my

We have to!”, as I pointed to the gigantic blue and grey water slide, my mother's face scrunched up with disgust. For she doesn't like roller coaster nor huge water slides, exactly like this one just yonder. She turned back around and told my brothers and me to put some pep in our step so we can get to the rides, as if she didn't hear a word I just said. As my family moved along, I trudged behind because I knew we weren't going to the enormous water slide. After we went through the park and rode the other little water rides, and roller coasters, and of course the lazy river we decided to call it a day and head home, but since we were on the other half of the park, to walk back we had to pass the huge, terrifying, grey and blue water…

The Fury, the fastest, longest, and tallest rollercoaster on the East Coast. With a top speed of 95 mph and a height of 325 feet makes it the biggest rollercoaster I had ever gotten on, beating the Intimidator 305 by 25 feet. I remember seeing on television and wanting to ride it really badly. It just looked so amazing and since I love rollercoasters and love riding rollercoasters, I knew it was something I had to do. I had ridden lots of rollercoasters before this one such as the Intimidator 305 and the Top Thrill Dragster, which I had enjoyed riding very much, and I figured that the Fury would be just as good. So I asked my parents of we could go to the Carrowinds to ride the Fury. They said yes and we went with my aunt to the Carrowinds.…

I used to love reading. In kinder and first, my nose was stuck in a Magic Tree House book. Third, fourth, and fifth grade I basically lived at Hogwarts (in my rightfully sorted house, of course, I am a proud Hufflepuff). And in middle school, I discovered THE tween series of my generation, Maximum Ride. Reading was exciting, and even though I had done it for years every time I picked up a book it felt so novel. I was your ordinary bookworm until seventh grade when the joint power of Ms. Green’s teaching and James Patterson’s writing broke my will to read.…

Augustus Waters from The Fault in Our Stars once spoke, "I'm on a rollercoaster that only goes up my friend." At one point in my life, I found this quote to be totally insignificant. Now that I look back on my teenage years, I see it. The rollercoaster only went up from the point I opened my big, fat, attitude infested, mouth to my step-mother, Verona. The take off was bumpy, as well the entire rest of the journey up. Though it did eventually come down, not only going up. I came down an entirely different person and didn't have to think of life as a fictional roller coaster to stay happy.…

Another experience I had was when I was 9. I was tall enough to ride almost all the rides at Cedar Point and I was so excited to ride them. We had ridden all the rides we were allowed to ride until we reached the last one. I was so scared to do it because it was so tall. My parents forced me to go on it and I tried everything to convince them that I didn’t want to go. They made me go anyway. We got up and I screamed the whole way down. My fear was very stupid and now I love that roller coaster!…

Finally we got into line I was the second person in line my aunt was in front of me. When the staff rolled the next train in we got on. I was the lucky one because I said I want the green train and thats what I got. We sat on some faded yellow padded seats. As we rolled out I could hear the roller coaster making a clicking noise. Next the staff came and tightened our seatbelts and pulled down our safety restraints. They all stepped back pressed there green buttons and said “Clear!” really loud. We rolled out very slowly then the countdown happened all I saw was the lights go from red to green is half a second then we shot straight up 120 mph then 130 mph straight down. When it stopped, it stopped really fast and it made you go forward and it kinda hurt. When we got off we had the biggest smile on our faces “that was the best 17 seconds of my life”, I said. Then we went to the exit and went to go meet up with my mom and brother; then we got our funnel cakes. I learned that not all roller coasters are scary and that I need to be a lot more…

On one trip to Great America, my cousins and brother ditched me to ride a ride called Psycho Mouse which had crazy turns, but most importantly, had drops. Feeling dejected, I sat next to my mom who also disliked roller coasters. “I guess it’s in my dreams” I bitterly thought. Seeing my crestfallen expression, my mom called my dad over. He hurriedly sprinted over thinking we were in danger, but when he saw we were just both sitting on the bench without a single scratch, he inquisitively asked what was wrong. My mom explained that I felt left out and a determined expression soon filled my dad’s face. He took my hands and dragged me until we stood in front of what looked like a snoopy mini roller coaster. At that moment, I couldn’t distinguish what kind of emotions I felt. My feelings of anger because he knew I was deathly afraid, embarrassment because I was the oldest kid there, and maybe even a twinge of hope (although I’d never admit it) jumbled up leaving me an anxious mess. My dad dragged me to the seats kicking and screaming while the attendant of the ride watched us trying (but failing) to hold back a smirk. The first few seconds weren’t bad...until we hit the first drop.…

My first ride on a roller coaster was a scary experience! I never had a thought of wanting to ride a roller coaster for different reasons. The reasons for that fear was the fear of heights and the thought of me falling off the ride or some type of malfunction causing the roller coaster to collapse. I would just watch other people get on the rides and listen to them scream their hearts out.…

On a special day like a birthday you want to be with your friends and family, the closest ones who you want to share your joy with. That day always was special to me, because we always went somewhere. I was crying whenever someone called me to congratulate, all I wanted was for them to be with me and give me a hug. I was preparing myself for a day full of boredom when I received a text message form my father. He said “Happy birthday my dearest. Go into my room now”. I went inside, and on top of some new cloths for me there was a note saying “Get dressed, and come out”. I was so excited, it took me 5 minutes to tie my shoes. My father was waiting for me in the car outside. He was just smiling, and didn’t want to tell me where were going, only that it will take about two hours to get there. After a not so long and pleasant trip we arrived in front of a huge amusement park. Everything was shiny and glowing and there were a lot of people with their The park’s mascot called Euromaus was welcoming at the entrance dealing candy. We bought all-inclusive tickets and stepped in. Everything was shiny and glowing and there were a lot of people with their children. The park was divided into sixteen areas named after European countries. But the thing dominating park were rollercoasters spread all around the park, and high above it. I was excited and scared but decided to go on a ride on the least scary one, just to break the ice. It was the most fun that I had in my life. My heart pumped so hard, I couldn’t stop smiling. Then I went directly to the main rollercoaster, the longest, and the scariest one. It has a highest point of 73 meters. The approach is slow, so you can see the whole panorama of the park. People look so small from above. At the tip the trains stops for a couple of seconds, in order to prepare us…
