Personal Narrative: My First Horse
Everyday I go to the barn at four o'clock to bring in our horses, give them grain, hay, and water. The chores at night would take about an hour maybe a little while longer, but they quickly taught me to be responsible. While brining in the horses sounds easy, thats not always the case. At one point while I was bringing in my first horse I looked down at the legs and everything seemed to be fine. No cuts, no scrapes, and the horse was walking how he should be. I hear a loud noise coming from down the hall. The horse I was learning and myself jumped out of out skin. I quickly ran and put my horse in a random stall. I slammed the door and here comes a horse running loose down the isle. I turn around and throw my hands in the air. “Wooooo” I shouted sternly. The horse comes to a sudden halt. I grabbed the horse and walked him back towards his stall. This wasn't unusual, sometimes horses escape when you open the gate to grab a different horse. As I am walking this now wired horse back to his stall I hear a small should coming from out side.
“ I need help” My grandmother shouted weakly. I hustle to put the horse in the stall and get out to my grandmother. I get out side and my grandmother, Lynn is laying on her back holding her arm into her chest.
“ Oh My God, are you ok?” I said

I helped my grandmother up propped her on the fence and ran to get the car. As we got to the hospital I realized all the horses were out and it was dark. My grandmother sent me home to bring in the rest of the horses. I really didn't want to leave her but I knew the work had to be done. I went home and finished the work, by the time I got back to the hospital it was just past ten PM. When I got there the doctor sent her home with me. “ Drink lots of fluids, keep the ibuprofen in your system, and don't be working with your horses anytime soon.” The doctor said as we left. We made sure we listened and she was back out and working in no

Personal background starts off small, it changes and grows over time into something big, it grows into an identity. Walking down the hallway at school, seeing someone standing alone, my first instinct is to make conversation, compliment, or even just smile at him or her. This instinct came from someone once telling me an act so small could turn a person's entire life around. As a kid, reading encyclopedias about random topics, consumed my time. Many days were spent coming home to find an injured wild animal in my dad's arms waiting to be saved. My dad would sit outside and draw animals, trees, and anything else he saw. Nothing excited me more than trying to draw whatever my dad drew, and as good as he did. Any assignment that was handed to…

“Time heals all wounds” a saying everyone will hear at least once in their lifetime. Does a person have to go through a life changing experience to find self-knowledge and self-acceptance? In Richard Wagamese’s novel “Indian Horse” self-knowledge and self-acceptance is what I will explore. Comparing and contrasting the journey of Saul Indian Horse to the journey of my own mother Yvonne Nepoose. Initially people go through adverse situations in life that leave them feeling isolated. They feel the need to turn to self destructive behaviors to forget the pain; however, this response in turn hurts others as well as themselves. To overcome the pain they feel they must accept the love and help of others. In doing so this will compel them to be resilient.…

I was soon released from the hospital, and allowed to go home. It is impossible to forget the lousy car ride home. It hurt to sit up straight, so I laid down in the backseat of my mom’s Ford Explorer, and proceeded to watch a movie. By the time I got home, my back was killing me. I was forced to stay on our couch for the next few days, and needed help walking and showering, since I was not allowed to do anything to harm the stitches placed in both of the open wounds.…
