I have established many great relationships with different doctors and APRNS. In the ICU setting where I was employed, I did notified two physicians which I worked with about my plans for Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and both supported me and agreed to help me with a preceptorship in pulmonary and critical medicine. Dr. Erasto Cortes and Dr. Ahmed Hajj are the two physicians which I worked with and still keep in touch with. I currently work with two great surgeons, Dr. Michael Lara and Dr. Jorge Acosta, both which are also aware of my plans and have been very supportive. They both agree to also precept me in General surgery, trauma and gastrointestinal surgeries. I am currently employed with Del Sol Medical Center and my current Director is…
Sounds pretty similar to the agency I work for but it sounds like you had a lot more training then we did. Oddly, I was never asked or told to shadow anyone however, I did have a few nurses shadow me. I asked these nurses about it and they told me they weren’t getting paid for their time and I thought that was a little bizarre. I’m guessing that many agencies do not pay people for training after hearing your experience was similar to…
As I was looking for a Physician Assistant program I focused on three main things: research, prestige, and location. I was fortunate enough to discover that Yale PA program exceeded my expectations. As a clinical research assistant, I have had the pleasure to work with great clinicians (doctors and physician assistants alike) who have graduated from Yale Medical School and Yale PA program. Their perseverance, ability to react efficiently and decisively in difficult situations are some of the many qualities that Yale highlights and solidifies in its programs. Furthermore, shadowing one of the physician assistants who graduated from the Yale program gave me a better insight on the rigorously, expectations, and preparations of Yale PA program.…

During the summer I worked at a nursing home to gain some experience in the healthfield. Working as a certified nursing assistant really helped me grow and it is one of the most rewarding jobs I’ve had, it also was very challenging at times. As I said before I struggle with anxiety, but working as a nursing assistant pushed me to overcome some of the fears I had of communicating. I learned really quick when working in a nursing home you strongly need the ability to have good communication skills because without it you can’t communicate with the charge nurses, the residents or the other C.N.A’s. Everyday that I worked there I used different forms of communications such as body language which I learned says a lot about what a person is feeling.…
Walking into work I smell the aromas of a nursing home. I hear the sounds of wheel chairs and walkers scraping against the hard wood surface. As I walk to station one, I stop by the break room to store my food. The room is full of people charting the prior shift. Walking out of the room, I continue to station one. Finding the cork board with the neon green paper, I see what hall I am working. There is only my name and one other on spring hall. I know it is going to be a rough night; but at the end, I will remember my goal, which is helping others.…
Growing up , I was a rough child. I wasn’t really what you called a girly girl. I was always outside Feeding my dogs and horses and riding my bike and four wheeler. My friends was always boys . As I got out of my car and started walking to the front door, all I could do was admire this beautiful building that resembled a ranch-style home. When I walked through the front door, the smell of mashed potatoes, baked chicken breast, and wheat rolls filled my nose; it was as if I was walking into my own grandma’s house. In front of me there was a group of people; some in wheelchairs, some using walkers, and others on the couch shouting out answers to the latest crossword puzzles. Walking through these doors brought me to the realization that I was soon going to learn everything about each one of these people. This included how to specially care for and assist them with their everyday needs in this place that they call their home. I did not…

In my present position I am an administrative assistant in the superintendent’s office of a large public school district in New Jersey. When my present boss was promoted he reached out to me for assistance with various concerns he was facing in his new position. Working for him for about 16 years, he was well aware of my organizational abilities and leadership skills. A short time later I joined him as his administrative assistant in the central administrative building.…
Living in a residential area that feels like a community is very important, especially for those who may be living on their own for the first time. If I was to be selected as a Residential Assistant, I would not only hope that the residents would say that they lived in a great community, I would hope that they would feel like every one of their fellow residents was a member of their family. Besides that, there are many other things I hope that my residents would say at the end of the academic year.…
