Personal Narrative: My Experience After High School
Learning comes in various forms. That’s what I realized when I experienced being involved in different activities since high school. Most of them involved doing something that was never in my comfort zone. But that’s how we learn, right?

The first time I got involved with something I never did before was during my sophomore year. My class advisor asked me to conduct Math review sessions for our class. I was hesitant on doing the review sessions because I am not a good speaker. But I really wanted to help. I used that chance to challenge myself into overcoming that weakness. It was not easy in the beginning. I stuttered a lot and became frustrated at myself at the end of every session because of how bad I explain things to my classmates. The review sessions were held twenty to thirty minutes before our one-hour lunch break is over. I feel fulfilled because eventually I was able to adjust. I realized that we were just like having a big group study session.

I and the other members aimed for a greater involvement of students in Math activities by conducting fun and creative contests for the whole student community. It was one of the most fulfilling opportunities that I have been given. When I got in at the University of the Philippines- Diliman (UPD) in 2013, I continued getting involved in helping others while being an active student at the same time. I joined ASAPhil-UP— Architectural Students’ Association of the Philippines— an academic organization of the UPD- College of Architecture, to do this. I worked under the Academics Committee of the organization that is responsible for educational activities such as design competitions, lectures, and other related events.
