The reason my academics aren’t going well as you or I would like is because of the several family issues I’ve had to face during my high school career. It began my Sophomore year, I found out my mom needed surgery in her arm so the chances of her cancer spreading would be reduced. I was under a great deal of stress worrying about my mother, taking care of my four siblings making sure they knew everything was going to be okay, even though I wasn’t sure myself. It was all up to me; while my other brother worked to help with bills, my mom being in the hospital, and my dad working. Taking care of my siblings consisted of cooking, homework, cleaning, nightly routine, and putting them to bed. When the work was done it would be around 10 o'clock. It was already tough to buckle down and focus on homework without all the stress. With all this my first semester grade was less than great.…

CSVI a - The reason I chose to become an early childhood professional is because I like to be part of the learning process and see how the children benefit from the program we provide. I believe that early education is very important for children and I take a great pride in the work I do every day. With my art education and ability to be very creative, I am able to use it in my classroom and create artistic wall displays, bulletin boards, interesting art projects, and colorful teaching tools for the children in our program. Every day we provide them with paint , paintbrushes ,crayons, scissors ,glues, colorful papers and many more craft supplies and they go to create their own very special piece of art. This is one of many activities in the classroom that helps them to develop variety of different skills they need for everyday life and I get to be part of it. I understand that as their teacher I am a big influence on them and every moment of the time they spend in the school and I provide them with loving and positive environment. Every day, while they are away from their families, they get to spend a day filled with learning carefully planned fun activities, and I am very happy to be a part of that. At the end of every school year I’m pleased to see all of our students to move on to the next level of their education and I’m proud that I was able to help them learn basic skills and prepare them…

While all of the different skills that was discussed earlier would help me in my dream career, however there is a unique skill that will benefit more than the other is revision. Being a photographer the power of revision may be one of the most important skill. The photographer will need to constantly review their piece of work and try to improve on what that was wrong, if they do not revise on what was wrong then they will not understand the meaning of success. Photographer will need to know why they are doing the same mistakes over and over again so they can avoid it, especially when turning the final product. With the revision the photographer will be able to continue to learn what is needed to be done to get the best result that they want,…

My obsession began in the sixth grade where i found myself fascinated with doing hair and the products and the foods that could improve your hair and skin and I wanted to learn more. By my freshman year in high school, I already knew what I wanted to focus on: cosmetology. My first cosmetology competition was Skills USA. I was chosen to compete in the 90 degree hair cut event. Once I arrived at the school for the competition, I noticed all types of different academies; academies from construction to culinary. I walked into the cosmetology room where my competition was being held. I began to set up my station, shampooing my manikin’s hair and pulling out my shears and razor blade. As the 40 minute timer started, I reached for my razor blade…

Ever since I was a young girl I’ve had an interest in skincare. Of course, I loved playing with makeup, but what I enjoyed most was the understanding of skin. Why does our skin react to certain things? How do we prevent the bad reactions from happening? Why does everyone’s skin react differently compared to each other? These were few of the endless questions I would inquire my mother about everyday. As always my mother never disappoints, and she always was able to answer every single question. Due to my mother’s knowledge of skincare, I was inspired to obtain the same knowledge for something I’m so passionate about.…

While visiting the College Foundation of North Carolina website I was not surprised in my answers. My Holland code was CES, meaning conventional, enterprising, an social. Also, I was able to find out my work values and they are achievement, recognition, and relationships. However, I do feel like there were more on the list that I felt were also part of my work values. I definitely feel like these relate to my degree and also my professional career. It would be very beneficial because while getting my associate and bachelor degree and then leading to my career as an Occupational Therapist it will become very helpful by being organized, working with people and helping others. While being an Occupational Therapist my work values will mean everything…

“What sets this student apart?” This is arguably the most important question asked by an admissions team reviewing all of the well-qualified applicants to an immensely competitive program such as the University of San Francisco Nursing Program. While most applicants being considered have a minimum 3.5 GPA, what makes a student stand out for this opportunity? I believe the answer to this question is short and sweet: personality. When there is a deep talent pool of well-educated, hard-working individuals all vying for the opportunity to make a difference, it is important to look beyond the paper to see who these students are and how they will be able to represent the reputation of USF and the nursing profession. We are people hoping to make a difference in, not only the world around us, but more specifically in the world of health care, and the biggest difference…
