Personal Narrative: Jensen Vs. Jellies
Jensen vs Jellies
Welcome to Maui, Hawaii, a magnificent vacation spot…right? My family, friends, and I went to Maui over spring break. We had done many great things, going to the beach every day, seeing a sunrise on top of a volcano, and so much more.
The next adventure we had planned; snorkeling in Turtle Town. Putting on a ton of sunscreen, we headed off to the dock to board our boat. We then heard a voice. “Would anyone like wet suits? I’m selling them, it will keep you warm!” the man boomed.
When we got our wet suits and other equipment, we definitely looked like pro snorkel-ers. The same guy who sold us our suits taught us how to not swallow a bunch of water. It was quite helpful.
Time passed, but we finally got to our first destination.

He goes to the hoop. He jumps, hanging in the air for what felt like eternity. It was his second game. Brought up from the D-League, he needed to prove himself. His name is Jeff “Elmo” Beige. As the ball is coming down, closer to the hoop another individual comes into play. The name is unnecessary to know, but the man is key to Jeff’s story. The man jumps. He didn’t have to, but he did it anyway. His six-foot ten body could have easily blocked the shot on Jeff’s six-foot five structure. As Jeff’s hand with the ball comes crashing toward the net the man’s hand makes contact with the ball. The ball doesn't even touch the rim. Rejected at the rim. Jeff’s career is over at that very moment. One block defined his whole basketball career. Such a dejected ending for a fantastic story.…

I, Jaelin Carter, am writing to you, Hetal Patel, to prove to you why I deserve to continue my college career here at Robert Morris University. Rightfully so, should I have been on academic probation seeing as though I did not take the opportunity to allow my true scholastic ability to speak for me. By no means am I using this appeal as a window to make excuses for my poor choices but to simply enlighten you on the troubling and disheartening incidents that occurred which unfortunately became my first priority.…

The Cheesecake Factory, I once believed that the establishment would be a bakery that primarily sold cheesecakes, sweets and such. Although, I’ve never heard much about the restaurant, or what it actually was other than people are familiar with the establishment and only comment on the cheesecakes. Yet, I had not known that that was the place I was dining in, I only believed under presumption of its name that we were going to eat at some other random place when I walked through the doors of the restaurant. Now the reason I say random was the fact that this place was not like how I imagined the praiseworthy Cheesecake Factory to be at all. My expectations of this place was exactly how Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory felt and as colorful as Tim Burton’s remake of Alice in Wonderland was.…

As soon as we got there My Uncle Shaun and I were put on tent duty. We didn’t have a camper, or a houseboat, so the most reasonable option was to bring tents! This side of my family doesn’t go camping much, so I found it very interesting that we were “tenting.” Mostly my uncle set up the tents, since I was about eleven and didn’t like to work. I mean, I still don't, who does? Anyways, because I had my swimming suit on, I found it very appealing to go for a swim. So I stepped in and I did not expect what I got! The water was warm, a whopping 80 degrees fahrenheit! I had never been in water so warm until I came here. Normally we go to lakes/reservoirs it’s usually Island Park, Jensen’s Grove, or American…

The fact that my favorite jelly bean is yellow says something about my personality. Firstly, yellows are not usually outspoken. For instance, when my friends and I make plans to hang out I only say something if asked even if I do not like the plans. That is how I act in most if not all situations. Secondly, I have trouble making decisions in a lot of situations. In fact, I spent up to thirty minutes deciding if I wanted to go to a rodeo when my mother asked if I wanted to go. I tend to take as much tie as I can to make decisions I did with the rodeo issue. Thirdly, I attempt to understand why someone thinks the way they do. As an example, my friend mentioned his favorite character in a game was different than mine, so I asked my friend to describe…

They call me placid Jermaine, but really I’m not. There’s nothing peaceful or calm in my mind I’m actually very opinionated. I’m constantly thinking and wondering about things. Growing up an African American teen in Lafayette, Virginia the odd of success were against me. My whole life I’ve been around small-minded bigots which are noxious mentally to be around. They’re telling me the only way I would ever make it in life is if I played sports or if I sold drugs just because of the color of my skin. I have no idea why people like that have to be so knotty. My mother would always give me the best advice with dealing with a person like that. She told me there’s numerous amount of small-minded people in the world just prove them wrong so you…

Your identity always explains how you look, think, taste, and feel. It also describes how you fit in the world in the past, present, and future.back in the 1960’s you were described mostly as either a Greaser or a Soc. In the world I live in today , I would most likely be described as Johnny Cade, an always alert, (In a bad way.) afraid, nervous wreck.…

This was the scare of my life . I was cruising dirt roads in my jeep with a couple of friends, and we weren’t making very good choices that day . we were all drinking beer even though we were only 16, and I decided to try and show off for my friends and drift around a corner . Well needless to say that did not turn out very well at all. We made it around the corner and then i saw a truck coming our direction. So i tried to straighten it out before I should have and we slid out of control and hit the ditch while sliding sideways and hit a fence which caused us to start to tip over but somehow i turned the wheels just right and saved it . After we were back on all four tires we slid across the road and just barely missed the truck…

My mother, sister, and I were driving down Highway 124 on a hot July day when my mom screamed and slammed on the breaks. Fear rushed through our bodies. Outside the car window, a short young African American man was launched into the air. As he came down, a loud boom sounded as his body helplessly rolled off the hood of the faint green Toyota Corolla in front of us. The man lay motionless in the road while we waited for what seemed like hours for the driver to exit the car. His red shirt and gym shorts were ripped. The driver of the opposing car threw the vehicle in reverse in a spasmodic action in an attempt to end the man’s life. The injured man made an effort to crawl onto the Wendy’s sidewalk, forcing his body up on the curb to evade the car. The driver drove up onto the curb and blew its tire, just barely missing the wounded man. Realizing the driver would stop at nothing, my mother drove her white suburban in front of the car, blocking the violent perpetrator from doing any further damage.…

Even though I wasn’t your typical toddler, how could I have been so stupid? I may have been an utterly curious rug rat, maybe even more. However, once an idea popped up in my pint size brain it stayed there….Until I tried it. Most things weren't terrible. They were just average ideas that most toddlers think of. Just like they say in the commercials, “Kids discover the world with their mouths.” Another example of this is like biting the table because its looks like a humongous cookie. In most cases this was true. In my case, it was a little more extreme.…

Charles Spurgeon once said, “It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.” Happiness can be determined based on how much a neurotransmitter, such as a dopamine, in the brain is produced. It can be also defined as when one rewards oneself for their own achievements of their goals.…
