Personal Narrative: I Am Going To Walmart Again
I am NEVER going to Walmart again When someone gets hurt in an odd way you always think “That’ll never happen to me!” This was one of the things I never thought could happen to me. I mean, I knew I was clumsy, but I didn’t think I was that clumsy. It was an ordinary day and we were just doing some shopping when things took a turn for the worse and changed everything. It was June of 2014, we were having a pretty normal day and everything was going well except for the brand new hair cut that I did not like. My new hair was short choppy and did not appeal to my facial structure. My Mawmaw, my brother and I decided to go to Walmart to get a few items we needed. James went excitedly to the sports gear, Mawmaw went to the grocery aisles to get ingredients for dinner that night and I needed a few art supplies. I went and got all of my art supplies and most of it was paint, but a few other things like pencils, a …show more content…
Once I got all of the things I wanted together, I set out to find my family. After searching I started to panic slightly wandering the store endlessly thinking, “I’m lost, I’m lost, what do I do?” After thinking for a while I decided that staying by the front door would probably be my best bet. Eventually they found me and we went to check out. When we got to check out and stood in line I realized that one of the paints I had gotten was dried out, so naturally I went to go switch it out with a new one. As I was on my way to the art section I was going around a corner and “Bam!” I walked right into one of the clothing racks that was sticking out into the aisle where it shouldn’t have been. When I ran into it at first it hit me in the face right below my left eye and slightly to the left of my nose; this knocked me out and caused

I remember anxiously waiting for 9:00 o’clock so we could go explore the store. The grocery store could be kind of spooky during the night but this didn’t bother us too much because we would be busy playing tag or hide and seek throughout the store. The grocery store has seven aisles. Aisles 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are nothing special but aisle 6 is divided into in half by a variety of items as well as a candy box ( I don’t know what else to call it).…

Managing to break free from my mother’s grasp, I charged. With arms flailing and chubby legs fluttering beneath me, I was the ferocious two year old rampaging through Costco on a Saturday morning. My mother’s eyes widened in horror as I jettisoned my churro; the cinnamonsugar rocket gracefully sliced its way through the air while I continued my spree. I sprinted through the aisles, looking up in awe at the massive bulk products that towered over me. Overcome with wonder, I wanted to touch and taste, to stick my head into industrialsized freezers, to explore every crevice. I was a conquistador, but rather than searching the land for El Dorado, I scoured aisles for free samples. Before inevitably being whisked away into a shopping cart, I…

“It works just as good as the name brand,” my mother would always suggest. As I have matured, I regret to admit that, in most instances, my mother’s notion was right. Consequently, those very words describe my shopping nature. When I think of what kind of shopper I am and how I have developed my shopping habits, there are three factors that are responsible for my consumer behavior. Those factors include my childhood shopping experiences, my knowledge of advertising and marketing, and my persona.…

So I took a deep breath and everything speed up again. Adrift in a sea of people twice my size, I made my way towards a directory. I had remembered seeing these signs that reminded me of treasure maps scattered across the mall. When presented with a new problem, people often gather present information and apply their prior knowledge to develop a solution to be resourceful. At the age of four, however, I had the disadvantage of underdeveloped cognitive skills. I could not, for the life of me, understand the directory and magically find my way to Macy’s. All I could remember was that it was somewhere to the right. So I took a right. Upon taking that direction, I saw the familiar face of a friendly kiosk saleslady. With all the cute politeness I could muster, I explained my situation to her and asked her to guide me to where my mom was. She said yes and we were on our…

If I could live my life over again, I would not change a single aspect. However, I would ensure to cherish each moment more than I have. When we arrived to the store, my dad was already irritated at me from the car ride there. We walked into the store and my dad set me loose. I was running around the store, looking at books and inappropriately commenting on them, shouting all of the thoughts that came to my mind while catching some dirty looks from the other customers walking around the store. I returned to my dad and before we left, I asked him for one of root beers from the cafe. He would not let me have one, so I went where no man had gone before, I yelled at my dad in the middle of the store, creating a scene for the whole to…

It was a perfectly normal Saturday night, until I sat on the couch. I expected to enjoy a funny movie with my dad, but instead I got a trip to the hospital. I sat on the couch, and then I felt a sting in my elbow. At first, it felt like I got a shot at the doctor, but it slowly got worse, and felt more like a knife slicing into my elbow. I winced and sprung up from the couch. I squinted and my eyes scanned the spot where I just sat down. Aha, I thought. There was a small piece of plastic, and it looked like it broke off from a container.…

I began to fall deep into thought about the crash. I truly realized how lucky I was and how much worse it could have been. It was a truly terrifying moment for me. I could have attempted to stay on the skateboard and not attempted to stop, which would have lead to me crashing into a parked car, potentially sending me to the hospital. I could have been hit by a driver not paying attention coming down the street. I could have tried to stay on the board just a little longer and crashed at a greater speed. I could have not been wearing a helmet and got a serious concussion. All these possible outcomes slammed into me at once, leaving me speechless. Even though looking back on it, my injuries were very minor, it really dawned on me just how bad it could have ended and how lucky I had been to not have any lasting injuries.…

It was on the way to the hospital, IV in hand and sirens wailing, where my epiphany occurred. I am always injured. I began having flashbacks from my past pertaining to injury. Back to the first grade when I broke my arm after climbing on top of a toy chest to hang up a towel. To middle school when I hurt my knee swimming WHICH I remind you is a non-impact sport. Injuries of various severities flooded my mind as I began to fathom the fact that being hurt as a result of mundane activities had become an almost constant part of my…
