Personal Narrative: How Daycare Changed My Life
My daughter’s name is Amelia. She is three-years old with bright blonde hair and calming blue eyes. She attends a five star daycare within our area. The daycare is run by Aiden and Jennifer Clifton. The married couple has owned the daycare for the past twelve years, while also having their four-year old daughter attend the daycare. Taking Amelia to daycare each day isn’t easy. She is the light of my world and it breaks my heart to leave her throughout the day. I wish I could stay home with her every day, but the income my husband provides isn’t enough, I need my paycheck.¬¬¬¬¬ As I return home from work one evening, I quickly ran outside to grab the mail just before starting dinner. While thoughts on what to cook are going through …show more content…
It was my day off but I still had some errands to run throughout the day. As I began with paying bill the curiosity peaked my mind to find out more about Aiden’s indecent exposure charges. As I began looking deeper and deeper within the online documents, I began to get a curtly feeling about my quick assumption that it was Aiden Clifton. Aiden’s indecent exposure charges were not what I had expected them to be, there was nothing that even involved children. Apparently last summer while out boating, Aiden was relieving himself off the back of the boat when another boat passed by and called him in. I suddenly felt that it hadn’t been Mr. Clifton; maybe it had been someone else. When I picked my daughter up that afternoon I began to try and talk to her. Before I could bring up anything of that matter, her mouth began to pour critical details. She began to talk about one of the high school aids at the daycare, Sean. She discussed how Sean was “the coolest” and that he would give the kids prizes. I began asking what the prizes were for. Amelia had said that Sean would give those prizes if they would do certain things that would please Sean and if they wouldn’t tell

As a child protective services worker, when interacting with a hostile, resistant or non -voluntary client, I would use several techniques to build rapport and engage the client in working with the agency. Being a social worker for the last ten years, and having four years of direct experience in child protect services, I have come across many reluctant clients. I learned very quickly that rapport is the foundation to any service provider in the social work field. Upon a first visit with a client, one needs to remember that you do not know them any more than they know you. It is important to be empathetic and understand that the client has just had a stranger come into their home and take away their child/children. You, are also a stranger coming into their home, and need to respect their home, as well as, the situation they are experiencing. It is very common to see a hostile and/or resistant client in the beginning of services.…

When I was 17 it was 1995, I went on my first real date. We were going to see First Knight. The boy in question was the friend of a friend and I had only ever talked to him on the phone. He said he would pick me up at 7 and we would catch a movie. So far so good. 7 rolls around and he isn't there, he calls and says his Dad is running late so they won't be there till 8. I didn't realize his Dad was driving but whatever, I am withholding judgment. 8:30 they show up and he knocks on my door and I go out to join him. He leans in for a kiss and I lean very far back and awkwardly stick out my hand to shake his hand. He doesn't act like he knows what to do next and he is just staring at his feet and his Dad is staring at us and time just crawls. We finally just painfully walk to the car. It is not immediately apparent where we are going to be sitting. Now, this dude's Dad was HUGE. Not just his weight, but his entire freaking frame. He barely fits in his car. He has the driver's seat all the way back and in the front seat next to him is a cage of living breathing birds. The back seat is really only half a back seat because his Dad is filling so much of the car. I look at my date and look at the car. My date seems to have come to the same realization that there is really only one seat. I squeeze into the backseat while my date squeezes into the front seat with a bird…

The best part of the day had arrived, dinner. We had a reservation at the pier in which we were going to eat dinner. We looked like a whole bunch of bees ready to attack. The food was there. Right in front of our noses. We could feel the presence of the warmth coming from the food. The smell was just making our mouths water and our tummies rumble. We looked at each other with such eagerness to have some of those explicit desserts in our mouths. There we were, with our food served and ready to attack. I knew that when I was done with this food there was no longer going to be any space for the dessert. Overall the food was amazing and the experience as well.…

Before I was a sister, I never took anyone else into consideration, and I was never told to do otherwise. I was around four years old, when this news has changed my life forever.…

“Call me if you need me anything at all,” my Auntie Taylor called as she disappeared through front door that I call a black hole.
