Personal Narrative Essay On The Three Staples
The Three Staples
I was laying on the ground bleeding the crap outta my head.
Wait i’m too far ahead let me rewind a bit (flashback). out side with the warm sunset and the cool breeze of fall elegantly blows in my face. My friends and i were playing from noon to 7-ish. We all had smiles across our faces as big as they could stretch. Running in circles and up and over, down and under random objects trying to escape the tagger who was my friend chase. The smiles we had began to fade as we obtained the shrewdness of boredom. We found a golf club and some golf balls outside by a tree so we came up with a game to where one person hits the golf balls with the club and whoever catches it wins. I thought i would be smart and stand behind my brother

I knew that if i could stay awake it would be a lot easier on me but it wasn’t an easy thing to do. Around 3 hours of running, playing and the excessive blood loss i was taking a turn for the worse but we had soon reached the ER and she rushed me and my brother in and had us sit down. While she filled out a sheet and gave it back to the nice lady. In that time i was just sitting down finally stopped crying but my eyes were still watery and red. I looked around and saw some people who looked sick and people who looked worried and the others were patiently waiting for something while looking at magazines or on their phones. I remember staring...a lot, and i felt some stares back at me. Some guy had came into the room like 10 minutes later calling out my name so mom grabbed her things and followed the man along with my brother and myself. This team of doctors had me strapped down to a table and mentioned stitches and i started crying like a baby because my dad had told jokes about getting stitches before and made it sound really painful. They decided it wasn’t the best thought because the wound was too big for stitches. I felt more relieved than i did pain. They tightened the straps and began the procedure. Mom stayed by my whole side during the operation and held my hand they took 3 extremely large staples and drove one by one into my head and 4 or the rest had to hold me down from moving too much. They got a good grip on me and started pushing the first staple into my head and it hurt a lot because the pain pills wore off and it felt so painful. Try taking a nail to your head and push. When the operation ended i got a cars note book along with some crayons for

After that, they stitched up my leg. They thought about stitching my hand, but they decided not to. While they stitched up my leg I watched and asked questions. At first, the doctor did not want to tell me anything because he did not want to scare me, but my dad told him it was alright. Even my dad was too scared to watch what they were doing to me, but I watched the whole thing. I had a total of 11 stitches; seven stitches were internal and five were external.…

My two core values are Family and Faith. My top priorities in life are God and my family. It wasn't hard for me to choose my top two core values because I know that with God and my family I am able to achieve the other things. My family were the first people to provide me with love, happiness, friendship, and wisdom. They have been here for me every step of the way and as I am getting older, everything I strive to be and to do is ultimately to help them and make them proud. Faith is very important to me and that is something that my family has taught and instilled in me. Everything I do is for the approval of God. I have learned that hat God has for me is for me. Therefore, I am able to achieve success, peace, status, and wealth if that is…

My actions are always a direct showcase of my personal characteristics. A few that are particularly important are having patience, being non-judgmental, and thinking creatively. I learned a majority of my patience through my position as a research position. Research does not have immediate results; a good experiment takes time. My seemingly menial tasks, such as entering data, eventually contributed to the final product. I learned to be non-judgmental in my time shadowing an obstetrician, where I interacted with patients with so many stories. To judge them would cause a disservice, and potentially harm them. Finally, I learned to think creatively during my time at the Guild for Human Services. Each student was unique in his or her problems,…

They carried me outside to where the ambulance was waiting. As they opened the back doors and placed me inside the ambulance, the harsh smell of chemicals and sanitizers hit me in the face like a brick. Once we were all in, we went to the hospital. By the time we arrived, my arm wasn’t as bloody anymore because they had cleaned, dressed and put a temporary sling around my arm in the ambulance. Mike asked me if my arm was giving me any discomfort but I told him I was alright. It was probably due to the pills one of the other men had given me while I was still in the ambulance. It was called anesthesia or something like that. Mike told us to follow him and we were lead into one of the hospital rooms. There was a sink, 2 chairs, a table, a television playing the news, a hospital bed and a ton of medical equipment I didn’t recognize, and just like the rest of the hospital it smelled like cleaner, chemicals and sanitizer. Mike told us the doctor would be coming shortly and with that he left. After what felt like an eternity, the doctor came in and checked my entire right arm up to my…

I headed to my first class which just so happened to be my favorite subject, English. The hallways were very wide but when filled with students I felt like I had to shove my way through just to get to my locker. The lockers were a mixture between Gray and purple. The school colors were supposed to be purple and silver but there was no way that these lockers could be considered. I took a look at the little piece of paper that the lady in the office had given me and tried out the combination on my locker. It took me about five minutes to open it and after struggling for that long I was a little irritated so when it did open, it flew open and slammed into the locker next to mine. I held my breath and hoped that nobody had noticed. I took a long deep breath and slowly opened my eyes again. Luckily I was still standing alone and nobody around was looking at me. I put my extra books and notebooks into the locker and and closed it as quietly as I could.…

I was soon released from the hospital, and allowed to go home. It is impossible to forget the lousy car ride home. It hurt to sit up straight, so I laid down in the backseat of my mom’s Ford Explorer, and proceeded to watch a movie. By the time I got home, my back was killing me. I was forced to stay on our couch for the next few days, and needed help walking and showering, since I was not allowed to do anything to harm the stitches placed in both of the open wounds.…

The day of my surgery I walked into the hospital and was calm as could be, they asked me to put on the surgery drape and lay on the bed so they could put the IV in my hand and get ready for the surgery as soon as possible before I freaked out again and tried to leave. After they put the IV in my hand they asked me a lot of questions than pushed me back to the operating room where surgery is done, they asked me to switch tables on my own then they immediately strapped both arms and my left leg down so I couldn’t move, the surgeon came in the room asked if I was ready and said, ‘everything will be okay!” that’s all I remember till I was back in the room where I started with my mom, apparently I was crying when I came out of anesthesia but I honestly do not remember any of that. The funniest part about the surgery was when I got back in to the pre-op room she told me to go ahead and change back into my original clothes to go home, but I didn’t know I already had the surgery because I felt just as I did when I went in, so when I went to stand up and put my shorts on I fell over cause I only had one working leg with feeling in it! When I got home I had to walk inside and lay down to prop my leg up higher than my head to get the swelling to go down while icing it also. About a week and a half after the surgery I had a mental breakdown because I was so bored and with all my friends asking me…

The day after, I had an MRI, or Magnetic Resonance Image, scheduled to see exactly what had happened. Jeff Laporte, my knee doctor, comes in to the patient room and says the exact words “well Cal, looks like a very torn ACL.” My heart sank to the floor. The only thing I knew about this was when my mom had surgery she was in excruciating pain. I started crying not knowing what to think but Jeff calmed me down and the very next day got me in for surgery. Deathly afraid of needles, the nurse brought the IV in. I was so scared my veins were to small to fit the needle, so they gave me a pill to calm me down a little. After that I don’t remember anything except waking up from what I thought was “a ten minute nap”. The surgery wasn’t near as bad as I thought it’d be; I was able to…

Many tests, and many a hospital stay later, came the surgery.... we were told to wait in a large room, smelling way too strongly of disinfectant and the smell of stale air that has been circling in the same, multi-level building, way too long. We wordlessly sat there, and waited, then waited some more, reading books, playing with my mom's phone, and trying to sleep, for what seemed like forever. Our whole family was there, back then, My innocent self thought it was fun because it wasn’t very often my whole family was…

When I was 6 years old, I needed a few stitches. I went outside which I normally didn’t do. Except that day was a rare occasion. I saw my cute little maltese puppy outside wagging her tail happily. I loved my dog, Heidi. The sun was setting so she was now fading into my backyard. So all I saw was a few flashes that were her eyes. I pet her when I got outside. She licked my hand happily. She ran around our small backyard with extreme speed .I watched her, amused. I ran after her but my little 6 year-old legs would only carry me so fast. Then she ran in front of me. I tried to stop from running into her.…
