Personal Narrative Essay: Moving To Loonigon Street
A few days ago, I moved to Loonigon Street. It was named after a loony that lived here a few hundred years ago. On an autumn’s day, I went to a shop to buy some milk and bread, which will help me to know the way around my new neighborhood. As I walked on the sidewalk, I saw an entrance to a forest. I was curious so I stepped into the woods.
“ Sarah, don’t go in there! It’s dangerous!” A voice shouted behind me. “It’s the forbidden forest! Nobody should ever go in there.” It was Amy, a girl I met from school.
I tilted my head gesturing that I don’t understand.
“ Bad things happened to people who went in there! Do you know about the loony that lived hear a few hundred years ago?” Amy asked
I nodded.
“ The loony still lives there!”

Golden leaves fluttered down from the branches, squirrels scrambled onto trees to get ready for the upcoming winter. Wind whistled through the trees and birds sang a lovely melody on the branches. I stroll through the forests picking up good-looking maple leaves. Suddenly, rustling sound came out of a little bush behind me. I turned around facing the bush. The bush moved again and jumped out a rabbit. I relaxed and walked backwards and bumped onto something. I whirled around and jumped. A person was standing there staring at me. She had dark black eyes and curly black hair. She wore a beautiful dress that looks like its made out of grass and flowers. She smiled and greeted me. I smiled back and introduced myself because she looked …show more content…
She didn’t reply. Her eyes were fixed onto the violin solo performance. After that, a woman went onto the stage and told jokes. The jokes were not really fun but everybody laughed hysterically, especially the woman in the middle. The last joke was “How do dinosaurs pass exams? With extinction!” The women in the middle roared with laughter. When she laughs, it looks like as if the parts of her body are disassembling. As I watched the golden lady, her head tilted and dropped onto the ground. Her head rolled away, still mouth wide laughing. I stared in horror as the servants picked up the head and put it on her headless body. I panicked and fell off my chair. The music stopped and everybody stared at me as I scrambled up. As I was going to run, I saw everybody’s face: Eyes were frighteningly dark, skin as pale as snow and the curly hair looked like strings of yarn. They were like terrifying dolls on Hollow’s

In 2008 I moved to Bluffton to help start a new aluminum remelt facility called Alexin. I was one of three invited to make the move from western Kentucky by the presidents of Alexin because of my knowledge of the industry, my reputation as a hard worker, and my positive attitude. In the past nine years a lot has changed. Even though I know longer work in the aluminum industry, I still pride myself on my knowledge, reputation, and attitude. The job has changed, but what it takes to be successfully in any occupation has not.…

5:45 a.m., Wednesday, Boxing Day, 2013. I was sleeping soundly in my bed when the phone rang. I could hear the sound of someone getting up to pick up the phone. Shortly afterwards, I could hear the sound of weeping. I heard my Mom tell my Dad that Oma had passed away. Two days ago we had received word that she had fallen on her back and suffered a concussion. The fall might have been caused by her struggle with Alzheimer’s.…

Growing up near Detroit, I have personally seen the poor conditions and standards of life that some people are living in. Although I have completed many hours of volunteer work in an effort to improve the bad conditions in the city, I feel as if I have not done enough. That is why after reading SCU’s vision, the aspect that attracted me most was the idea of building a more humane, just and sustainable world.…

It all started when we left from the hotel around five o’clock, hoping to get to the CN Tower on time. We were on vacation in Toronto in mid July, we had just arrived here a day ago from Niagara Falls. When we left we would have never imagined that this would be one of the longest walks some of us have taken. Pleasantly, we left for the CN Tower, which we thought couldn’t be a great amount of distance from our hotel. We were wrong!…

The day I found out I would be moving from Roseville to Alpena was probably the worst day of my life. I remember the day I found out about the move. Not only was I really upset because I would be moving away from my friends and family, but I was really scared. We were moving to the middle of nowhere, where I knew not a single person. I would be going into my 6th grade year in the fall, my first year of middle school. My brother and I did everything we could to try to sabotage the move, but sadly our plans failed. Nothing could stop this from happening. Everything I knew… was about to change.…

No one could reach the maximum ability when he or she is uncomfortable. For me being, comfortable means being at home. After living for two years in Boston, leaving it has been one of the hardest decisions I have made. However, I could not stand the idea of staying out of that city, so I decided to come back as soon as I could. As a result, I started looking for schools in Boston to transfer to that had my major. One of the schools I found was Wentworth institute of technology, a university that I have been accepted to, but I could not study there because I did not fulfill the condition, which was a 79 or higher in TOEFL. Thus, I decided to apply to Wentworth Institute of Technology, so I could go back to the place I belong. Also, I chose…

I always keep this poem and picture in my wallet. I take it everywhere with me because it means quite a lot to me in two very different ways. One of those ways is because it holds sentimental value. When I was younger I learned to read very late in life and I was always so embarrassed of that. My father knew that I was struggling and bought me the book, Where the Sidewalk Ends. It is a book full of poems and little pictures written by Shel Silverstein. I remember opening the book to ta random page, and it was the page with this poem. I then remember my dad asking me to read it to him. I was so uncomfortable, even thought I was just going to be reading to my dad. He gave me some words of encouragement, and even thought I was not able to read…

I was raised, since eight years of age in Canton, a northern community in Georgia. My upbringing was in a suburban setting, relatively quiet and with a lot of friendships developed right from my neighborhood. Except for vacations to Florida, most of my friends never left Canton and went to the same elementary, middle and high school. Our parents drove us to school, enrolled me in Lacrosse, baseball and football. I grew with, what I consider, a very normal American childhood.…

On the second day of school during my sophomore year, I realized how much Wahlert meant to me. It had become my home, the place where I felt like I belonged; school almost even seemed like a break from summer. Over the summer, I had become an empty shell and spent my time at the computer wasting the time away; the only interactions I had were with my family, and on rare occasion with my best friends, when we had sleepovers. To see the people I had missed over the summer was great. All of these things felt so true in that moment.…

Furthermore, Carter’s heroine is subjected to a ‘five mile trudge through the forest’, which is the setting for her encounter with the wolf; a fittingly sinister background. The forests iconographic features are typically baleful, ominous and dangerous; a frankly perfect stage for the climax of the story. ‘She knew the forest too well to fear it,’ also suggests that a proverbial ‘newcomer’ to the forest would fear it. This also hints that the main character has had past in the forest, and may have feared it previously.…
