Personal Narrative: Clarice Starling
I need a partner that doesn’t stomp on my voice or only lazily correct my grammar. I need someone to challenge me, while still encouraging my own beliefs. I need Clarice Starling. Principled, she was impervious to intimidation. When the sanatorium director became envious of her success, he transferred Dr. Lecter in exchange for his help. Clarice, however, knew Lecter nursed the police completely false information. Every one turned a deaf ear, dismissing her theories and obstructing her investigation. Busy fishing for Lecter’s red herring, the police called her efforts ridiculous and unnecessary. Yet, she adhered to her own leads and, in the end, saved Catherine. I can be too passive, changing, underestimating, and silencing my views to please

Hi!! My name is Jamie Zanfardino. I am an alternate Social Work major. Over this past summer, I took a trip to Hawaii with my high school explorers club. Kathleen: My full name is Kathleen Caroline Muck, which, in my opinion, is a bit of a mouthful. I don’t hate my name, but I don’t really like it either. Kathleen and Caroline each seem like names for little old grandmas that fold tissues to keep in their purse for when they go out. Having a full name may seem kind of cool and professional when you get an award or sign your name, but the moment is always ruined by someone that knows me primarily as Katie snickering and saying Kathleen Caroline in a nasally voice to whoever is closest. Also, I find Kathleen particularly hard to spell when I’m struggling to write in cursive neatly for important documents. For example, if you were to look at my temps, you would see that I spelled my own name wrong. No joke. I spelled my name K-a-t-i-h-l-e-n, and to be perfectly honest, that isn’t the first time I’ve messed it up.…

I moved from Detroit, MI to Ypsilanti, MI, for a better living. It was December 29, 2008. I had just given birth to my daughter. My daughter was born at 9:45p.m, weighing 5lbs and 3ounces. I named my daughter Saphira Parthenia Franks. Saphira died at 36 weeks, due to still born. The doctor told me” Sometimes this happens without a reason and you will be able to have more children”. I already had my mind made up, that I would wait until I turn thirty to have another baby. I was heartbroken and disgusted with myself. I was already going insane from the deaths of my father in November 2006 and my grandma in July 2008. Therefore, I was not able to cope with their three deaths at once.…

As most of you know I am Brandi Fennell and I attend William Carey University in Hattiesburg, MS. This weekend was such a “God moment” for me. On Thursday night I just had an urge to go home. So early friday morning I left with a duffel bag with enough clothes to just stay a weekend because I thought I would be leaving to back to school today after church. Early Saturday morning around 3:45am my university was hit by an F4 tornado. The tornado did not save anything. Every building including our dorms were damage, we had cars flipped every which way. But luckily we had no deaths just minor injuries. We are closed immediately and are not to allowed to come onto to campus to even get our stuff.…

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” my friends, guidance counselor, parents, college applications, ask. When I was six I wanted to be Hannah Montana. When I was 12, nothing had changed but I reasoned I could have a second job too – just in case. I’m 17 now and I’ve been exposed to a deluge of astounding things: timeless authors, transformational historical events, jaw-dropping scientific discoveries, emotionally riveting political and social revolutions and at the fringes of it all - sometimes in the center - I’ve imbibed the powerful influence of the female voice in a world historically dominated by men.…

Since I was young, my parents have always taught my sister and I the value of giving your time to help others. When my mom had asked if we would be interested in being volunteers for Carly’s Crossing ten years ago, I would have never guessed the impact I could make not just for pediatric cancer patients and their families at Roswell Park, but the impact volunteering had on myself. Looking back, I have now realized that Carly’s Crossing has helped me to build character.…

Bailee Grace Gunnell- If you were to ask me if I would ever change my name if I had the chance, I would say no. My name defines me, even if some annoying little kid tells me that I am a girl who has a boy name. I still wouldn't trade it for another one. Even if my name doesn't have the most interesting meanings. Bailee means public servant, Grace means Grace of God and Gunnell the descendant of Gunnilla.…

I am Brenda Lizette Loredo. The way I got my name was due to a discussion between my mother and aunt resulting in my father being the resolver. I was born on September 25, 1997 in Richmond, Texas at 2:48 am. This resulted in my first two years of my life living in Richmond, Texas. Around two years old we moved to Rosharon, Texas where I have lived for almost sixteen years. In these sixteen years that I have lived in Rosharon I have experienced many things, but the uttermost great thing that has happened to me and for what I am grateful the most for is for having a warm home full of love and a wonderful neighborhood. In my neighborhood, everyone is friendly with each other. If one person needs help we all pitch in order…
