Personal Narrative: Caner Saka
On April 11, 2005, a baby named Caner Saka was born. I, Caner Saka have looked different over the years, however now I have a certain appearance that is consistent. I have brown eyes and brown hair that I often spike up, I am 5’3 which is kind of tall for my age. My hair is usually messy as I do not comb it at all. I wear glasses but recently I have worn contact lens a lot. My ears, nose, and mouth are just like others, however, my eyes look different often because I get a low amount of sleep most of the time. My family is awfully large. I have my mom, dad, and brother. The thing that makes the family huge is from both my mom and my dad. My dad has three sisters and two of them have two kids and one of them has one. Also, my mom has a brother but she also has many, many cousins. I am not sure exactly how many but I think that there are at least six. My mom and dad met in a funny way. My mom was at my aunt’s house because they had old family friends, and my dad was visiting my aunt or my dad’s sister. I live in a townhouse in Mount Laurel NJ. My neighborhood is just like most others. All in all, I like where I live, however, I like cities like New York City more than the suburbs where I live. I always enjoy going out to the city every once and awhile. I find that …show more content…
I do not know why but I like temporary changes in life. I find that being in a resort or a hotel or even a family member's house is exciting. I am Turkish so I go to Turkey, the Middle East, a lot and in total, I went there about four times and I love seeing family members and having fun with them. Another vacation I went on was to Punta Cana where my family and my cousins family stayed at an awesome resort called Majestic Elegance. The most recent vacation I went on was to Virginia Beach where we had lots of fun at a Holiday™ Hotel and ate pancakes and other yummy foods, however, our fun was cut two days short because of Hurricane/Tropical Storm

Personal background starts off small, it changes and grows over time into something big, it grows into an identity. Walking down the hallway at school, seeing someone standing alone, my first instinct is to make conversation, compliment, or even just smile at him or her. This instinct came from someone once telling me an act so small could turn a person's entire life around. As a kid, reading encyclopedias about random topics, consumed my time. Many days were spent coming home to find an injured wild animal in my dad's arms waiting to be saved. My dad would sit outside and draw animals, trees, and anything else he saw. Nothing excited me more than trying to draw whatever my dad drew, and as good as he did. Any assignment that was handed to…

Throughout my life I have encountered many circumstances that have shaped me into the person I am today. I was born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico. I attended school in Mexico all the way to second grade. In the summer of 2006 I moved to Cumming, Georgia. It was the hardest thing to do because I left everything that I care the most about. We lived in a trailer which was not the nicest place and in the middle of the forest. I started school at the beginning of August. I had always loved school so I was so excited for the first day. I knew it was going to be hard because I would have to conquer so many obstacles on the way. At this time the only English I knew was probably counting from one to ten and some of the colors. My Father knew some…

At the beginning of the year it felt like I would have never been able to write any paper that was more than two pages long, it just seemed impossible, but for the research paper I actually had to stop myself from going off and writing a twelve page paper. I will admit and say that English is not my strong suit, in fact it is probably one of my more difficult classes. But just because it is difficult does not mean I don’t like it. I like looking for topics that interest me and still fit in with the guidelines, I like getting involved in the paper and researching the topic until it feels like my head is about to explode. I never saw any of that coming, I thought that I was going to have to go through English and just pray…

The first time I met Anastasija was not quite the first time she ‘met’ me. In particular, before starting her high school education at NOVA International Schools, I had heard of Anastasija and her interests through my contact with one of her cousins, Ms. Bela Gligorova, who was my guidance counselor at that time. I was introduced to Anastasija in person in December 2010, right after I finished my college applications. An inquisitive young mind, a polite and thoughtful person, Anastasija’s curiosity and questions about my college application process and my high school accomplishments, struck me as novelty, since Anastasija was only in seventh grade at the time.…

In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before. I think by having one key being touched, the other key can hear because on page 153 Claudia says she breathed and rubbed on the key making it warm and on page 154 Finn says when he touches the key it's warm.I like the way the author wrote the scene from both perspectives, it gave us the readers a clearer understanding of how both Finn and Claudia felt. I also like how the author described the way both keys affect each other and have a "key" connection.…

One of the most challenging things a person can experience is leaving everything you’ve ever known behind and starting completely over somewhere else. Eva does this in the Lost in Translation by moving from Poland all the way to Canada when she is just a teenager. When I was sixteen years old my family moved from Minnesota to Texas. This isn’t quite as drastic of a change as in Lost in Translation, but many of the things Eva experienced I can relate with even if I just crossed numerous state line borders. Eva says “My mother says I’m becoming “English.” This hurts me, because I know she means I’m becoming cold.” I’ve realized as I’ve lived in Texas for the last four years I’ve started to say stuff and do things I would have never done in Minnesota.…

My parents and my brother devoted their few years completely for his treatment. Today, my brother is a successful engineer working in the bay area. When I was twelve years old, my friends and I went to a place we called: “ The field.” The neighborhood kids and I would play all kinds of sports there. One summer day, we were playing baseball. My friend was up to bat my other friend was pitching, I was playing the field along with others. My friend pitched the ball. My other friend swung and the ball was called foul, but that is where all the houses were. Because it went out of the field and into an area where there were houses. I thought completing Marine Corps boot camp was my most cherished accomplishment, but it merely stood in the shadows of my last deployment’s final work-up. Combat preparation is as stressful as you could imagine, and that stress doubles on leadership positions. D. H. Lawrence’s poem sounds like an alarm in my head when things get hard, “I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself”. You have a choice to make during hard times: wonder “why me” or rise above the situation.…

I live in the small town of Scottsville, KY. Everyone knows everyone here, and I like that.
