Personal Narrative: A Horror Story
Gothic Horror Story.
“I will be home soon,” said I, “before the rise of noon, just in time for tea mother.” And I hurried off after negotiating that I was old enough to go and see the wonders of the gloomy, haunted woods which many people had warned each other about.
“Come back in time,” said mother whilst cooking tea, and glanced at me with disapproval.
My grim looking father sat, listening to the radio, with great eager. “Before you go daughter,” he broke in, “make sure you take extra care as this place is not suitable for mature girls as you. There have been many extraordinary events that have taken place out there.” He shook his head in dissatisfaction, moving it from side to side.
My heart pounded. Heading to towards the door I heard

Even though I knew it was still in the bush, I couldn’t muster enough courage to go and have a look at it. I just left it and begun running in the direction of my house. My pace being slightly quicker that what it was before I stopped. In the back of my mind I still imagined that I could hear the rustling of bushes and breakings of sticks, but just like before, I didn’t think it and convinced myself I was imaging things. Soon the rain was so torrential that I could hear my feet pounding, on the ground, or how loud I was breathing. So evidently I wasn’t able to know whether or not I was being followed by some kind of creature.
Opening the front door to my house, I was welcomed by the warmth of the fire, which was roaring and glistening in the dark. Once I closed the door I made sure I had locked it and put the chain on. After I had locked the door, I ran upstairs and got a shower. After I had got out, I noticed that the window looked like someone had tried to get in through it. Long, spine shivering scratch marks going down it. Descending from the twisty, old staircase, I noticed that the house door was squeaking as it opened. Confused, I thought I had locked it. Making sure no one was outside, I locked it once

Learning from mistakes is a key part of life. I myself have had to learn from my mistakes. Over the summer I cut my foot outside. I spent the whole night in the worst hospital, then I got 18 stitches in the bottom of my foot. It also set back my ability to play football. My mistake was going outside without shoes, now I wear my shoes all the time.…

Thirsty I made my way towards the kitchen to pour myself a glass of Cranberry Pomegranate juice. Sitting around what’s left of the dining room table one of its hinges obliterated merely three table legs left as a support. A branch from the oak tree near the kitchen window kept tapping against the walls and windows as the wind blows. This branch at night when the murky moonlight blooms against the massive tree meticulously resemble an oversized man with a knife trying to break into the house. I often dreaded coming down the stairs for a cup of water or juice late at night when the lights were off. The terrified image and screeches sound on the window always send me scurrying right back to my room and ducking under the covers trembling for dear…

“Oh, young fellow, I just knew! I have this sense. Let me tell you about it inside,” he said as he opened the door even wider. I stepped inside the rugged shack, the smell of mildew wafting up my nose. “Would you care for some tea and crumpets?”…

In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before. I think by having one key being touched, the other key can hear because on page 153 Claudia says she breathed and rubbed on the key making it warm and on page 154 Finn says when he touches the key it's warm.I like the way the author wrote the scene from both perspectives, it gave us the readers a clearer understanding of how both Finn and Claudia felt. I also like how the author described the way both keys affect each other and have a "key" connection.…

As a child, I was raised my whole life in the country side. My mother and I had lived for years in a lonely shack at the edge of the small village we called home. At the very edge of the village was an eerie forest, a forest that seemed to beckon unwary fools into entering it. I was always told as a child to never go near the forest, especially at night. Some people say that a bear lives there, while others say that a serial killer lives there, and some even say that a monster lives there, either way the forest is always portrayed with death. I remember various occasions in which I would wake up for reasons unknown, only to find myself outside in my backyard staring at the edge of the forest, the soft moonlight caressing my bare skin, the crisp night air followed by the refreshing scent of grass. On one occasion I thought I heard a…

The rumbling of the wagon. The clacking from the horses. A vigorous smell from the wild plants. The shivers that I get at night. I couldn’t stand it. I stood up from my two feet and began to walk towards to someone that I would know of. “Hey, Pa when are we gonna stop?” I asked. You may be wondering why my Pa isn’t sleeping at this kind of hour. Well, I can tell you why. He can’t sleep at night either.…

She stepped slowly from the doorframe, letting the light touch her old and faded face as if it were the sun that was to appreciate her presence. She hardly went on walks when I was around. She’d always just stay in and moan about it being too bright. I definitely remembered this old hag. And if you think 'old hag' was a bit of a harsh term, I am more than willing to argue. Despite her frail appearance and gentle expression, I know what truly lied behind the facet of wrinkles. Stubborn and headstrong like that of a wild boar, with a tongue so sharp, one could nearly be sliced in two if Katherine believed you to be worth her time in the very least, let alone bothered to utter a word to you at all. As a boy, I had the misfortune of continuously…

“Fear is only as deep as the mind allows” -Japanese Proverb. After dinner was cleaned up I would take garbage outside. Usually, dinner was around the later afternoon or evening time, which means the sky was dark, and being that we lived in a forested area, even darker. Armed with my flashlight, I trudged out the back door around the house and scanned the area with the light in front of me. I had done this same task many times before, yet the sharp silence and shifting shadows that surrounded me built an apprehensive tension. Troubling thoughts suddenly emerged, my imagination running with a tumultuous delirium. I envisioned wolves would appear from the woods behind the house and hunt me down. My rampant thoughts soon incited me to hurry and quickly get back inside the house. Rushing to the trash cans I opened one with great haste. I dropped the bag into it, shutting it just as quickly as I had opened it. Promptly, I started…

Ever since I was born, I was a military brat. Not knowing where to call home, or if any place could be home, I moved. I moved six times, four of those places were towns that nobody could think about. Germany, North Carolina, Alaska, North Carolina, Germany, and Alaska, yet no place to call home. May 22, 1999, my first day on this world; Kronach hospital had its first American baby in their hands, yet they acted like I was a different species. The only event I remember was when I was about one. While I was one, I grabbed everything in my reach, even a grill handle. As a baby, I did not know that the handle was moving, the grill top had smashed my thumb. Ever since that event, I now have a starfish mark on the side of my right thumb from where the stiches were.…

They seemed to get louder and louder. Turning around I hoped that my nephew wasn’t there, but he was right there sleeping beside me. “Could it be my cousin, but they said they were coming at eight in the morning,” I thought to myself. Picking up my phone, I looked at the time and it was 4.am. Slowly I got up and woke up my nephew with my hand covering his mouth. “Be quiet, and don’t talk,” I told my nephew, and surprisingly he listened. My nephew and I walked down the stairs as slow as possibly hoping not to make any noise. Essentially, I was on my tiptoes the whole walk down the stairs, but not realizing that I forgot to bring the knife with me. While walking towards the basement door I was shaking, and I had goosebumps. “I have to check if there is someone in the basement, it could’ve just been my imagination.” Slowly I grabbed the door knob, and at that very moment I got the chills, and I couldn’t move for about 10 seconds. Once I could move I turned the door knob slowly, and tried to make no noise. Again, I saw nothing but darkness, but when I looked down the stairs I saw something that looked out of place. “What is that,” I thought to myself. It looked like a big object, a dark figure, possibly a person wearing a white hoodie, and a…

We drove around for about 45 minutes and finally we stopped at this creepy house that had no lights on. My friend Drew parked the car on the side of the house, and we got out at the same time. When I stepped out of the car into a thick bush, it tickled my knees. We walked around the back of the house and shined the flashlight all around to see if we could see anything but unfortunately the flashlight only shone 5 feet in front of me so it did nothing. We found a door on the side of the house and jiggled the handle to see if it was open. It creaked open and I pushed Drew to walk in first. I was a little scared to walk in, but I couldn’t let my friends know that I was scared. We quietly crept around to see what was around us; we saw two rooms that were right next door to each other and a bathroom off to the side. A blinking red light was seen on the ceiling in the hall then a sudden beep, we all froze. We didn’t move until 10 seconds later the beep was heard again. “It is just the smoke…
