As I was looking for a Physician Assistant program I focused on three main things: research, prestige, and location. I was fortunate enough to discover that Yale PA program exceeded my expectations. As a clinical research assistant, I have had the pleasure to work with great clinicians (doctors and physician assistants alike) who have graduated from Yale Medical School and Yale PA program. There are five specific skills that I am both good at and like which is leadership, motivate, counsel, multitask and deal with feelings. When stating that I am good at leadership is because it’s a great way to show others a positive path to follow. To illustrate, I demonstrated leadership when I was in high school since I was president of the Health Academy. The positive leadership moves persuaded and motivated my classmates and underclassmen to follow my steps. Although being president of the health academy was very time consuming I managed to multi-task. There was a point that being a president of the Health Academy made me feel confused and had to deal with my emotions outside of the Academy. Since I did not want others to feel sorrowful…

There are two instances in my life that has inspired me to gain interest in medicine. My grandmother when I was around the age of twelve received double bypass surgery and I fell in love with the physician who took care of her. The physician was a middle aged woman who was one of the kindest person I have ever met, and she gave us the news of how everything went fine during surgery. She also gave us great confidence in how my grandmother would return to normal soon. The look on my parents and aunts face when she gave the news gave me goosebumps and to this day I feel the same goosebumps when I think about this. I just wanted to one day be in a position to deliver good news to a family and to see that “look” of relief on their faces. Another…

Ever since I was little, I would tell my dad every week a different job that I wanted when I grew up. As a little girl, I always dreamed of being an artist and traveling the world teaching children to paint. But as I grew up, I realized my dreams needed to turn to reality and that I would need to find a more realistic job. I then turned to the medical field because of its high demand and security. She said I could do whatever I want but I know that translates to “do what you want in the medical field.” I mean I suppose I could. But I want to go into the medical field because I want to, not because of pressure. I don’t even know myself or anything I’m passionate about so how do I decide what I want in the future? I mean, come one, I still have to ask to use the bathroom. How do I plan what I want to do, or prepare for my future when I know nothing of it? I don’t know how to do taxes, or where/how to pay bills, or anything about insurance. I’m…
