Pathos Advertising Essay
Lexus cars are being advertised online for the winter collection sales event. The ad is like a slideshow that catches a viewer’s attention and makes them watch the entire thing in order to see what the advertisement is trying to sell. Ethos is being used to advertise the cars because it convinces the viewer that Lexus is a credible car manufacturer. This is an effective ad because it includes a review from Autotrader that named it the “best luxury certified pre-owned program” and also briefly mentions the warranties on the cars. It encourages people to view their website and look up more details about the sale. Since the company has a good rating and provides useful information in the advertisement, buyers are more likely to trust them and possibly buy a Lexus. The ASPCA asks for donations to be made to its organization in order to help rescue animals that are in need. The organization makes commercials that show animals who are in cages and have been abused, while playing sad music in the background. The ASPCA is using pathos to get …show more content…
The company does this by creating commercials that compare Verizon to its competitors and show why it is the better choice. Verizon uses logos to persuade people by using facts and statistics in the ads. In its commercials, Verizon will show maps comparing its cellular data coverage in the United States with its competitors data coverage. The maps show that its competitors don’t have anywhere near as much coverage as Verizon does. This is effective because someone looking to pick a cellular provider would be more likely to pick the one that beats all of its competitors and has more to offer. When facts are presented, such as Verizon having five times more 3G coverage than AT&T, people will be more convinced to choose the company with more coverage, since it makes sense to want the one that has statistically been proven to perform

    Pathos is used here to get the shock factor from the audience. An emotional tool that is strong in persuasive messaging since it takes the audience off guard and hits them where it hurts. Logos is then used in two places. First with pathos, where in the visual one will see an arm protruding from the man’s mouth and griping the woman’s face.
