Passers In Volleyball
The game of volleyball uses many important techniques; the three most important are passing, setting, and hitting. These skills allow the players to run an effective offense and defense keeping the game alive. For example, without the skills of passing, setting, and hitting there would be no game of volleyball. All of these aspects allow volleyball to be the incredible sport we see today.
The key to getting the ball to the setter is passing. The passer has a very important role in the play, whether it's offensive or defensive. When receiving a serve the player will pass the ball off their forearms in the direction of the setter, allowing the ball to reach the setter’s hands enabling her to set for a hit. Passers are very beneficial to offensive plays, in fact, without a passer there would be no way for the setter to do their job. The entire system of the play would shut down completely. Therefore, passers allow the team to control the play and decide what the next step for scoring a point will

Hitting is crucial in volleyball for countless reasons. One major thing hitting is responsible for is the deliverance of the ball onto the other side. A hitter will be the one to deliver a kill, or just getting the ball in play after being set too. There are three different positions for hitters: a middle, outside, and weakside. All of these positions are there to get a point, but sometimes it’s difficult. Hitters must know how to hit around blocks, roll the ball off of a block and recover if the hit has been blocked. A hitter is an important person who allows the team to win rallies. The specialty of a hitter is attacking from the front row but sometimes they must hit from the back row, this is another important skill for hitters. Hitting from the back row is very important, for if the ball is not passed or set correctly a hitter must step up and take it from wherever it may be. On the whole, these are the skills and positions of a

I signed up for volleyball. I have only had two practices. Hitherto, I acquired the skills of passing the ball, serve overhand, and set the ball. I failed to attend the first practice. As a result, I do not know how to properly serve underhand. Practice is every Friday night from six “o” clock to six forty-five at Anderson Farm Park. Moreover drills, we play games. One game I relish is where a person serves the ball to the other side of the net and tries to hit someone. If they are not successful, they have to sit were the ball landed. If they do strike someone, they earn a point. Volleyball is an enjoyable experience.…

There is no other game that an athlete fails at more than as a batter in the MLB. It is a given. If you hit three times out of eight you are doing awesome. That means you failed five times. But think about what you have to do as a hitter. There are five or more different types of pitches coming at you with different speeds and velocity. You have a split second to decide if you are swinging and where will you swing your bat. If you swing too early you better have long arms to reach for that ball and pull it. If you swing too late you better be strong enough to pull it down the right field line. Wow! That is awesome!…

Through passing in soccer is used to split the defense and pass the soccer ball up the field with enough speed for the ball to get behind the defenders towards an already running teammate. The through ball pass is best used when the passer strikes the ball with enough force in front of an already sprinting teammate who can run onto the through ball pass before the defenders. This passing technique takes lots of training because players have to learn the correct power, accuracy and where to strike the soccer ball for a through pass in different situations. It is important to choose the angle of the pass since this is what makes the through ball effective. The ball has to be played into space between two defenders at the correct angle to give…

In this paper I will describe the head to toe mechanics of what a normal, athletic volleyball block consists of. This movement may seem simple when watching a player perform it on the court; however it is a very complex muscular movement. There will be three phases I will explain in this movement. First the athletic position or “start phase”, next the jumping motion or “active phase” and finally will be the landing known as the “ending phase”. I will be describing every motion, as well as what plane the muscles are moving in and whether the movement is isometric, concentric or eccentric.…

For my observation study I chose to go to a place that was familiar to me so that I could see it in a new light. I did not completely believe that I would be able to see things that I hadn't seen before, however, it turns out I was wrong. I went to the Sport Hall gym at McMaster and looked at the volleyball players. I myself am a volleyball player so I am there often playing. On the day I went to observe there were people playing pickup volleyball during the afternoon. This is when people of all skill levels are able to come and play. It is supposed to be just for fun, but more often than not, it turns very competitive. I also observed the Corec6s (Co-ed) PlayFun (the lowest skill level) and PlayCompetitive (the medium skill level) intramurals…

Serving takes a lot of practice. There are three different types: overhand, underhand, and jump serving. If you are just starting out and do not really know how to serve then underhand is your best option. It does not take that much time to learn, but depending on how comfortable you are depends on how well you will serve. In order to serve accurately you must be behind the playing line and you cannot cross the line, or step on it until the ball has left your hand. For the serve be counted as a point it must go over the net, and stay within the playing lines. If the ball goes outside the lines or hits the poles on the net then you lose the serve and it goes to the opposing team.…
