Artist: Vincent Willem van Gogh
Theme: Van Gogh made Pair of Shoes from a pair of boots he purchased at a flea market. He wore the boots on an extended rainy walk to create the effect he wished for this painting, which may have been a tribute to the working man. The Van Gogh Museum speculates that they may also be symbolic for Van Gogh of his "difficult passage through life."
Reason: In this painting of Vincent Van Gogh, all we can see is an old pair of shoes. Shoes are not just for fashion, they are also an item of footwear intended to protect and comfort the human foot while doing various activities. If we would ask some people somewhere what the painting is all about, I know that many of them will just say that this painting is only about a dirty and stinky pair of shoes that is near the yield. For me they are not just a shoe that is old and dirty or how the others will describe them. I think that, this is a pair of shoes of memories. I chose this painting because it touches me of what Van Gogh said “Dirty shoes and roses can both be good in the same way." And it can describe me the way I like it. I’m not perfect and I admit that. God didn’t create a perfect person, like the shoes, shoes are not perfect because it can be destroyed. Isn’t it when the other pair of a shoe is missing we can’t use it anymore and it’s really hard and awkward to wear a shoes that are not the same, that describes how I interact with other people. When I’m with my friends, family, and others who are close to me my life can be easy, I can express my emotions how I want to express it because they know me already but when you are with your other friends that are not so close to you, you may find difficult in expressing your emotions to them because you do not want to be judged. I also love to take a trip anywhere and I think a pair of old shoes can represent that because when you travel many times using the same pair of shoe I’m sure it will look like old. Shoes’ life span depends on how the user takes care of it. There are people who are very careful using their shoe that’s why their shoe is not easily destroyed but the others are careless they don’t think of their shoes. My kindness also depends on how you interact with me. If you are good to me I can be good to you like on the other. And lastly, if you take a look again the picture your first impression can be just shoes, a pair of shoes, dumped shoes, stinky shoes, and an old shoes, but all painting have their meanings and only Von Gogh is the only one who really knows the meaning of this painting. There are some researchers that tell us that this painting may have been a tribute to the working man. The Van Gogh Museum speculates that they may also be symbolic for Van Gogh of his "difficult passage through life." It is a simple painting of shoes for the other but in reality it is how Vincent Van Gogh live. Just like me, I think there are some of my classmates that think that I’m boastful, useless and so many more but as the time passes they realize that they were wrong of their first impression to me, I just want to say that myself can’t be defined by my physical body. Always remember that a book cannot be judge by just looking its cover.

A pair of heels symbolizes a part of the nightlife Frances enjoyed that arthritis had taken from her; partying and being active was no longer an option. Shoes such as heels were no longer a possibility, as arthritis had contorted her feet to the point that they could no longer even fit into a pair. In my life I have been lucky enough to travel to striking places around the world. I believe that this assignment allowed me to express some of my experiences on the canvas. Art is an area of knowledge whose success of its work is based on the perspective of the recipients. Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Starry Night is considered one of humanities greatest masterpieces but when he was alive his paintings were thought to be nothing but the doodles of a madman, as he struggled with mental illness throughout his life. It was only in death when his work began to attract attention. Today his work is considered to be unmatched in genius and feeling. So although it was at first unpopular Starry Starry Night grew to be so much more, perhaps because of it emotional appeal. Emotion is a commonly used area of knowledge in the arts. It is used to express feelings, Starry Starry Night was meant to represent the pain and anguish of the artist. Both emotions are strong and are highly revered as they provide new knowledge about the human psyche something that transcends time to call forth understanding. As time passed perspectives about beauty and art changed in such a way that a work that was once considered to be useless and unsellable is now priceless. The knowers were the recipients of the art, they gained knowledge through his art and thus this changed their idea of beauty, and ultimately their pursuit of more artistic knowledge. Because Starry Starry Night became beautiful in the knowers eyes this opened the door to new artistic techniques and new ideas about art. I have in fact experienced something similar to this. As a child the book A Wrinkle in Time was read to me and I did not enjoy it, in fact it was one of my least favorite books. Then in 7th grade I picked it up one day and began reading it.
