PFPS: A Case Study

Physical therapy is one of the most common lines of treatment used to treat patient population diagnosed with PFPS. Clinical practice guidelines for management of patients diagnosed with PFPS comprise of multimodal intervention programs which includes strengthening of hip and knee muscle groups, patellar taping, cryotherapy, patient education and activity modification.4 One of the common hypothesis for PFPS is focal points of hip knee muscle tenderness and trigger points could be one of the factors causing pain in this clinical condition.5 Trigger points are defined as hypersensitive spots within taut bands of skeletal muscle that are tender on palpation and elicit referred pain.5
