PET Vs SPECT
Although PET offers some advantages over SPECT according to Loong and Anagnostapoulos (2004) “the American college of Cardiology/American Heart Association guidelines for the management of patients with stable angina recommend the use of adenosine or dipyridamole SPECT MPI as the preferred imaging modality for patients with LBBB” (p. 4). Both SPECT and PET capture photons that are emitted by radiotracer they then convert the information into data that’s digital which represents the tracer uptake as well as the location of the emission of the heart.
