Remember the Titans is another great example of overcoming adversity. The movie starts out with a black coach, replacing a white coach in rural Virginia, which was white dominated at the time. When this happened many bricks were thrown through Coach Boones’s, the black coach, house. Riots and rallies were held at the school saying to keep the blacks out.At the beginning of the movie the white players were least bit excited to join black players to play football, but as time went on, they bonded together and eventually won the state championship. Gerry, white, and Julius, black, ended up to be great friends throughout the years even though at the beginning of their friendship they were bitter rivals. A movie watcher could see the hatred in their eyes as they passed each other on the field and in the school hallway. A scene in the movie …show more content…
After a game Gerry is walking to a restaurant with Julius. Gerry’s girlfriend, best friend and a few more white friends pull up to him in a car. His girlfriend asks him” Gerry, come with us” meaning he would have to leave Julius. Even though it was frowned upon to be hanging out with a black man, Gerry stuck with Julius. This was a very hard decision for Gerry, which eventually led to a breakup with his girlfriend, but he had to stay with his teammate. They had come so far from when they first met to this scene.

All in all, Remember the Titans is a great example of overcoming adversity. The team had come from pure hatred to brotherhood even though they looked different. As the movie ends, the whole team is at Gerry’s funeral singing together “Goodbye”. This truly demonstrates how close the team had gotten. One of the best movie

The two strongest speeches he gives to his players both exemplify the best way to use logos. In the first speech being analyzed, the coach is speaking to his players about working together and not being divided while on the field of the battle of Gettysburg. He tells them about how brother fought against brother, and the price they paid for what they did, how they destroyed each other. If they don’t shape up and learn how to be a team, they too will be destroyed. Lessons must be learned from history, and mistakes should not be repeated. What happened to him? Did Coach Boone put him out of work, too? That crowd of cheering blacks on Boone's front lawn--have they so quickly forgotten the team and coach they used to cheer? In the real world, such questions would be what the story was all about. But then we would have an entirely different kind of film. "Remember the Titans" has the outer form of a brave statement about the races in America, but the soul of a sports movie in which everything is settled by the obligatory last play in the last seconds of the championship game. Whether the Titans win or lose has nothing to do with the season they have played and what they were trying to prove. But it has everything to do with the movie's sleight of hand, in which we cheer the closing touchdown as if it is a victory over…

I will look to explore the different areas of conflict regarding the maltreatment of the African American people. I think that it was so unfortunate for them to be driven away from their homes and life as they knew it. Some of the areas that this film deals with are: Prejudice, Racism, and Discrimination. The conflict theoretical perspective of Weber is utilized throughout the film. The whites were in control of everything, except for the land that the blacks owned (but they wanted to own it too).…
