Outline For Lord Of The Flies Critical Essay
In the Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the young stranded boys attempt to establish some type of order. The boys are stranded on the island without any adults, and the boys try to find food, water, and shelter. They try to find leaders and they make up their own rules. At first, their attempt seems to be logical. However, things begin to fall apart. The children do not have enough experiences to think like adults. The absence of adults on the island results in an inefficient world run by children that lacks reality.
Although the boys attempt to create a government with rules, it fails because there is no enforcement. Two of the boys, Jack and Ralph run against each other to see who would be the major leader of all the boys. All of the

    On account of the boys failing to implement this basic fundamental into their society it soon results in war. John Locke believed that in order for a government in prosper, it is necessary to bring down the government when it does not protect the rights of citizens. Locke believed that a government is based upon the bond of trust between the people and their authority. The people gave up their freedom, and in turn, they expect the authority to act with the public good always in mind. Any breach of this bond of trust can result in an act of rebellion against the government. In particular, the boys did not try to overthrow the dictatorship of Jack. The arrogant Jack cunningly manages to overthrow Ralph. Jack splits away from the group then he persuades others to join him in hunting leaving Ralph hopelessly outnumbered. Once the tribes split, making Jack the dictator things start to fall apart. As the new leader Jack’s only goal is hunting and he doesn’t care about being rescued. "The conch doesn’t count on top of the mountain" Said Jack," So you shut up" (Golding, 42). Ralph tries to talk things out with Jack but he doesn’t succeed and eventually, disagreements between the two groups became violent. Jack created a society that lost all resemblance of civilization; the boys in his tribe had become completely savage; they painted their faces, hunted, and punished those that went against them. They identified Ralph, Piggy, and their followers as the enemy and their goal was to destroy those would not join Jack's tribe.     In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, a group of adolescent boys are trapped on an island and the readers get to see a change within the boys. To prove the belief that humans are naturally evil, Golding describes the transition of a young boy, Roger from order and society to inhumane and savage. In the first chapter of the novel, the boys gather and decide they need a chief to keep control on the island. “He hesitated. The dark boy, Roger, stirred at last and spoke up. Let’s have a vote” (22). Still being in a civilized train of thought, Roger suggests an idea that implies order and structure. He comes from a society in which a leader is common among a large group of people. This demonstrates that there is civilization running through Roger’s brain at this point in the book. However, later in the novel, that civilized thought process is lost when the realization hits that in order to survive, one must kill. Toward the middle of the novel, in chapter eight, Jack and the hunters go out to hunt pigs and decide to give the sow’s head as a peace offering to the beast. “Roger found a lodgment for his point and began to push till he was leaning with his whole weight” (135). When the boys found the pig, it was feeding its children. Golding is tries to show that these children will go to any extent to be satisfied. At this time, Roger stimulates rape on the mother pig in order to kill it. This also shows that he has absolutely no thought of structure because Roger kills the pig in a violent manner. William Golding explains the transition of Roger by showing that all humans have a savage side to them and that we can all become evil. After reading the novel, Lord of the Flies, readers understand that they all have an inner beast, but it takes time and a certain situation to let it loose.…
