I think Henton means outcast by outsiders or maybe they look in on the world and see it in a different way or more real than most people. Maybe she evens means that they get treated different or that they almost want to be treated different and they don't want to be like the crowd. That they want to lead themselves but they can't because the way society sees them so it almost feels impossible, in that case makes them feel different or beat down and they almost feel like there life is pre told to everyone. Now a days outsiders seem to be the kids that feel like lots of stuff is dumb and they dont try to get stuff in common with people so they get a label that is weird or awkward. The kids that dont want to be like everyone and are different even if they know that the other people wont like how they are but thats just how they are made and people

The outsiders that maybe look in on the kids that have lots of friends and are always laughing. The “outcast” always seem to always not like social activities making them an anti-social person and harder to warm up to and get out of that awkward stage and the person talking to them may seem like they can never actually get to know them. The kids like this most of the time have a bigger heart than anyone but its broken down and when they get in trouble maybe they feel like its the only time when people notice them and that the trouble they get in doesnt even phase there broken life, they have already experienced so much pain

Ever felt targeted? Witness someone be judged by how they spoke? Felt as if no one belongs? Is it because they dress, act, or learn differently or a certain way? Most young adults go through these types of struggles. Stereotypes are preconceived labels subjected on the public. When teenagers do things out of the ordinary, dress differently, or hang out with specific people they tend to be measured up into or against these stereotypes. A common occurrence in high school, these stereotypes that try to define teenagers, can affect them either positively or work against us in negatively. When people are labeled it is usually through a stereotype, they are judged on their appearance, attitude, personality, and friends along with many other superficial components. “Instead of being presented with stereotypes by age, sex, color, class, or religion, children must have the opportunity to learn that within each range, some people are loathsome and some are delightful.” (Manson) Characterization is a tool used to depict someone through the traits of their personality and association with those around them. Of course, with the clash of characters and imposed stereotypes, conflict between people is almost certain. Rivalry, a byproduct of conflict and the law of survival is always at play within society. S.E. Hinton uses these literary techniques of stereotypes, characterization and conflict throughout the novel of The Outsiders to depict they key theme of rivalry.…

In addition to separation by the adults in society, teens are also set apart by their own peers. Hine got the word from many teens of what kind of groups there are in their school. I counted 24 different classifications that teens put their fellow students in. I think that Hine was putting stress on the fact that teens are trapped in an everyday cycle of isolation and they are slowly being separated from society.…

Believe it or not, everyone is an outsider; moreover so are you. “The Outsiders”, a novel written by S.E Hinton, took place in the 1960’s Tulsa, Oklahoma. When Hinton was 17 years old, out of anger she wrote this book about the differences between two unique teenage social groups: the greasers and the Soc (Doc A). She illustrates that the outsiders are the people who stand out from the rest of society by thought or action. Both the greasers and the Soc can be considered outsiders, but as the story goes on, we realize the real outsiders are the ones who can see each individual in the groups for who they really are.…

As I am reading the book Outcast United by Warren St. James, he talks about many prevalent issues in our society. There is one particular chapter in the book that sticks out to me in my mind whenever I think back to the book. In chapter eight titled “they’re in America now not Africa” we learn of a well to do man named Chime. Chime has come to Clarkston from Nigeria and has made a great living with his insurance company. Not only had Chime done well for himself. He was well known and well liked in the community as well. In this chapter we also meet Timothy Jordan, a troubled cop with a past. He was fired from his old police duties for excessive use of force. Chime is pulled over for no reason and as Jordan approaches his car, he begins to become flustered and starts to accuse Chime of not taking his orders even though Chime has done everything he asked and is being respectful. Jordan uses excessive force and takes Chime down to the ground. We come to find out Jordan only pulled him over because of Chimes skin color. Because Chime is an immigrant, Jordan feels more rage towards him (because of his discrimination) and acts irrationally. As I was looking through CNN.com I came across an article that reminded me of this same situation. Recently a college freshman at University of Southern Alabama was shot dead by a campus police. Another article I came across on the Missouri State website was an article about anger management in men. As I have read both of these articles, they totally reminded me of chapter 8.…

The song I will be singing is called God Help the Outcast. It was recorded and released in 1996 with score by Alan Menken and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. Some of you may recognize bits of it from a well known Disney movie called The Hunchback of Notre Dame but it isn’t the exact same. The movies version is sung by the female lead Esmeralda. She uses it as a prayer while asking for the protection of her people the gypsies. A reason this song really resonates with me is the fact that she is that she doesn’t bother praying for herself but others around her.…

I am lucky enough to say that most of the time, I don’t really feel like an outsider. Usually, I can quickly adapt to new situations and easily relate to people. The one time that stands out in my mind of when I did feel like an outsider, is when I started high school. Like many others, the first day of high school was very nerve-wracking to me. I went to Castro Valley High School, which is a fairly large, public high school. The student body there numbers over three thousand.…

Life has many challenges to surpass, however the hardest obstacle to face is social interaction. There will be times a group will except and invite a individual, but that's not always true. In life men, women, and children are ignored or bullied because of difference of opinion or looks. By using the story of the Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and real life experiences to illustrate how outcasts are born.…

In our society, many people will not admit, but we are inclined to hold different perceptions and biases towards individuals or groups. These preconceived notions offer opinions that are not supported by evidence other than assumption. During high school, teens are in a stage of their lives where there are transitioning to adulthood and are trying to find their own identity. By doing so, these adolescents begin associate with other individuals who are alike and go on and create a clique. Anybody who has ever attended grade school is aware that social ladders exist. In certain circumstances, these social classes are used to judgment. In The Saints and the Roughnecks, William J. Chambliss depicts and exposes the inequality that exist under the eyes of the community towards adolescents.…

I believe outsiders are simply those who are misjudged like I said before. Misunderstod people could fit into groups if they tried hard enough to fit in. As for misjudged people they don't fit into groups at all. Misjudged people are those who are different then everyone else. Misunderstood people are those who can be like everyone else but choose not to.…

Even though there has been a lot of changes from the 80’s until today, they’re most defiantly some similarities that stuck around for these years. Most schools reveal peer pressure. From what I have personally experienced this can make students change who they are, so that they are able to fit in with other students. Sometimes these students withdraw themselves, become anti social or feel that they have to be out spoken and make trouble for themselves. All of these characters types are conveyed in the film.…

Good morning teacher and friends. I, Zahra Zahravi, your friend, would like to present a talk about the most terrific problem that we have recently, which is “social isolation”. I stand here today humbled by the task before us; I do not want to role anyone. I should like to help our own friends who are suffering from social isolation. We all want to help another, human beings are like that. We all want to live by each other’s happiness and prosperity, not by each other’s misery. We do not want to hate and despise one another. Life guide us to live free and beautiful but it seems like we have lost the way. Today, I want to make you realize why we should help friends who are isolating themselves, even though most of us do not seem care about it, also kid around with them. This is not something to joke around. It has remarkable symptoms that may lead to death!…

Currently, research has stalled on furthering the knowledge held about technology in the classroom because there are many hard to control variables. For example, previous studies like the Shankar study were conducted to test the effects of social isolation rather than the root cause of this social isolation. Social isolation and loneliness affect most adults’ health and if it is found that technology in the classroom is a cause of social isolation, then the number of those affected will grow. Another example of the lack of research is evident in the area of teaching experiments. In detail, studies empahsize that teacher critique and demonstration is the best path to learning, but no studies speak of whether it matters if the teacher is human…

By manipulating people’s invulnerability to physical harm, experimenters were able to use mental simulations to show the link with societal exclusion’s response to groups. Three studies were conducted to show these responses and account for whether feelings of exclusion changed behavior in a positive or negative way to in-groups and out-groups. It was also taken into account whether the change was due to invulnerability to physical harm or elimination of pain. They found that the elimination of threats concerning injury rather than pain decreased the heavy impact of exclusion on a person. They also found that those who have been rejected are more likely to desire social reconnections with in-group members and that this is also affected by…
