Operation Pullover Case Study
This officer was working Operation Pullover DUI Patrols and responded to a single vehicle crash in the 300 block of S Colfax. This officer arrived on scene and spoke with Cpl. Gerdzos who advised that driver Loomis was already outside of the vehicle and admitted to being the driver.

This officer spoke with Loomis who stated he was driving his 2010 Scion south in the 300 block of south Colfax at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the curve. Loomis stated his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway colliding with a mailbox and several trees. While speaking with Loomis, this officer detected a strong odor of an intoxicating beverage about his breath, eyes were bloodshot and watery and his speech was slurred and mumbled. This

This officer then read Loomis the Indiana Implied Consent and he stated "Yes".
This officer secured Loomis in handcuffs and advised him he was not under arrest, however being detained for investigation of OWI. Loomies replied "I might as well be, I am an embarrassment" This officer placed Loomis on the back seat of my assigned patrol unit and transported him to the Griffith Police
Station.

After arriving on station this officer again read Loomis the Indiana Implied
Consent and he stated "Yes". This officer cleared Loomis' mouth of any foreign objects and waited in excess of 15 minuted. After waiting in excess of 15 minutes Loomis provided two valid breath samples into the IntoX EC/IR-II. The samples registered .183 BrAC.

This officer advised Loomis he was under arrest for OWI, OWI Endangering and OWI
