On time essay
My three general orders state that "I will guard everything within the limits of my post and quit my post only when properly relieved. I will obey my special orders and perform all my duties in a miltitary manner. I will report violations of my special orders, emergencies, and instructions to the commander of the relief." Military manner meaning professional, by the book, obedient and most importantly prompt. 4:30 on the dot my alarm goes off, I jump up with no second to spare and get ready to go. I’m up before the sun is. I can’t be late, if I’m late to serve my duty imagine the domino effects. The boundaries need guarding and I’m late to my post then we’re attacked. Something that I could’ve fore seen if I wouldn’t have missed that minute. There are many reasons why one should be on time. For one as a soldier I took a vow. One of many, actually.
As I repeat in my head and am reminded, "Right Place, At the Right Time and in the Right Uniform.” Also it goes the Soldiers Creed when I am late for anything. It is my job to be professional which means ON TIME. Being a solider I constantly instill the self-established law of, "I am An American Soldier. I am a warrior and a member of a team. I serve the people of the United States and live the Army Values. I will always place the mission first. I will never accept defeat. I will never quit. I will never leave a fallen comrade. I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills. I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself. I am an expert and I am a professional. I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat. I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life. I am an American Soldier." When I hear that alarm at 4:30, this is the kick in the butt that puts me on my feet without hesitation. This is what pushes me to the shower, washes my face and puts on my uniform. Every line that I dedicated

On a small scale, being punctual for formations and general points of duty allows leaders to ensure accountability for their soldiers, address notes and tasks for the day, and promotes organization within the unit. In a larger picture, everyone’s responsibilities for the day are dependent on the entire unit to be where they need to be at the appropriate time. For example, in the event of a company going to the range the armor has to be available to open the arms room to issue the weapons as leaders need ample time to take accountability of their soldiers and to thoroughly conduct pre-combat checks and pre-combat inspections. Support units are obligated to arrive on time due to their responsibility to provide ammunition and transportation. Something as simple as the armor being late can cause a domino effect for the entire mission.…

Students depend on schools as a basis for their education, a place to learn and grow, and to push them towards post secondary success. The Mounds View School district’s board members set up the district’s high schools to start at 7:25 a.m., followed by the middle schools (8:05 a.m.), and then the elementary schools (8:45 a.m.). Focussing primarily on our community's high schoolers, as they are statistically proven to need more sleep, it is crucial that they are getting at least ten hours a night. In order for this to happen, they would need to go to bed by 8:25 every night (assuming it takes them an hour to get ready and drive to school), which is extremely unlikely with the amount of homework, activities, and sports students are involved in. Hence, teens are not receiving their required amount of sleep at night. Correspondingly, schools (similar to Irondale or Mounds View) have increased rates of teenage car accidents, have more students diagnosed with mental and physical health problems, and students are obtaining lower academic achievements; therefore, I propose that anyone who cares about the future of New Brighton’s high schoolers should write a letter to the district’s board members in order to influence Mounds View Schools to push…

The Effects of Later Start Times in Middle and High Schools A study shows that over half of all high schoolers get no more than seven hours of sleep per night. In fact, this is the average amount of sleep most teenagers get, yet they need over nine hours of sleep in order to get a complete rest. This problem is common among most teenagers and is mainly due to schools. About 40,000 middle and high schools nationwide start before 8:30 a.m. (Wheaton)…

What is the importance of being on time? Is there one? Is it truly important? Is it truly a needed characteristic as a human being? Will it make you any different as a Soldier? Will it make you any different as a person? Some people will argue against being on time. People have different thoughts on all of the previous questions. But what is morally correct? As a person, does it matter? As a soldier, does it matter anymore than solely as a person? These are the questions that must be answered to show the true importance of being on time.…

Punctuality is a very important thing in life. Getting to work on time when you are supposed to, is punctuality. Showing up for a meeting on time is punctuality. Showing up for an appointment on time is punctuality. It is very important to make it on time for work, meetings, formations (ten minutes prior), and appointments. Appointments in this case, are very important to make it to on time. It is best to show up for appointments early. If you leave home early to get to your appointment, it is much less likely you will be held up and become late by traffic or any accidents you may come upon as you drive to your appointment. Missing appointments lets several people down. There are people expecting to see you, you are letting them down. There are people that need to be seen by the people you made an appointment with, you are letting them down by taking up valuable time from a dentist, doctor, optometrist, etc. when they could be there instead of you and having things they need taken care of. In the military, not showing up for an appointment is also letting down your squad leader, your unit, and the whole military organization. It can cost the Army a lot of money to schedule an appointment for you and then have you not show up for it. By missing an appointment, you also show that you lack discipline and responsibility. It does not look good to your leaders and makes it seem like you can not be trusted with simple tasks. Punctuality is a big part of impression and it is very important to make a good impression. When you lack punctuality, it sets a bad example to others, friends, family, as well as other soldiers. If you were not taught in civilian life or learned through having a job, in basic combat training in the military you are certainly taught to show up early and be on time for formations and that should carry over to other aspects of your life, such as appointments. Missing appointments takes away from everyone's very valuable time. There is not excuse for…

Being at the appropriate place of duty at the correct time is a very important part of being in the Marine Corps. Being at the right place at the right time for any member of the Armed forces is extremely essential to the defense of the entire United States. Also being at the right place at the right time ensures a steady workplace, and ultimately the reliablity that others have on us. A Marine can not move up in the ranks in the Marine Corps if he or she is constantly late and/or at the wrong place. A Marine who truly wants to succeed in the military must go out of his or her way to get squared away and be on time to his or her place of duty or consequences will be bestowed upon them. This concept goes for any person in any career not just the military. Of course being on time in the Marine Corps is being at your appointed place of duty fifteen minutes prior to the actual time of that was ordered. If some one can not carry out the most simple and most important aspect of being on time as a Marine, he or she will be considered unworthy or unfit to be or become an NCO or even higher in they're career. Even if a Marine goes above and beyond in in the workplace, in events, is great with physical, and mental, but is not on time and punctual than he or she will never actually succeed in the military.…

Starting high school later in the day would be beneficial for high school students. One positive example for a later start time is, “Nauset Regional High School on Cape Cod, which pushed its start time to 8:35 am four years ago. They saw tardiness fall by 35 percent and the number of D's and F's drop by half" (Vaznis). That is a notable difference. There are many other beneficial reasons to start high school at 8-8:30. Benefits include an increase of sleep, which leads to better overall student health and performance and improves the student’s academic, social and emotional needs.…

Punctuality is a very important part of military life for several reasons. one reason is that if someone is late for a patrol or convoy that patrol or convoy might haveto leave without that person. Another reason is because it will make whoever your relieving have to stay at work for longer than they are supposed to, tired and sluggish because of that fact, giving a high chance that whatever work that person does would be sub par and not up to standards because of lack of sleep. Punctuality also shows your chain of command that you are serious about your job and are ready and motivated to do said job to the best of your ability.…

    Essay for Being Late.

Punctuality shows that you are responsible, trustworthy and can follow directions. Punctuality isn't just an order that the Army requires, but also a good personal trait that is a reflection of a person’s character, it shows that you have personal integrity and self-discipline. While some of us are occasionally late due to circumstances beyond our control, habitual tardiness shows a lack of respect for other people and their time. If someone is late continually that shows that they more then likely do not care about what their NCO tells them. Time is a precious gem that should not be wasted at any cost. If you don't use your time wisely, you can never get it back. It is a very special resource in that you cannot store it or save it for later. Promptness is not only a duty, but is also a part of good manners, it is favorable to fortune, reputation, influence, and usefulness. Lack of punctuality is a theft of someone else's time and a complete lack of respect for others. You should be punctual in everything you do. Punctuality goes hand in hand with military discipline. Recruits are taught to obey, immediately and without question, orders from their superiors, right from the day one of boot camp. Military discipline and effectiveness is built on the foundation of obedience to orders. This is why we are supposed work so well as a team. By following orders from the more…
