The Makings of a Hero Whether your hero is real or a figment of your imagination, all heroes possess the same qualities. But the question still remains. What makes a hero? In other words, heroes are the people that do things for the greater good. Heroes are the people who overcome challenging obstacles and inspire others to follow in their footsteps. Throughout history, heroes have been qualified as famous or historical figures. But as time progressed, common people have demonstrated pure acts of bravery, courage, and heroism. Therefore, a hero is anyone who has courage, perseverance, and does spontaneous acts of kindness without the intention of being recognized or rewarded. To explain, over the course of history, acts of heroism have become increasingly minute but just as effective. A gentle, considerate parent is an example of a hero. Parents don’t expect to be compensated or recognized for being who they are. Another example, of a hero would be a person in a wheelchair who doesn’t give up. This shows heroism because no matter what difficulties they endure, they refuse to throw in the towel. Lastly, as there are things heroes do, there are also things heroes do not do. Wise writer Oliver Stone said, “Most of what they do goes unheralded, unappreciated. In addition, heroes never bring people down. Instead, heroes inspire other people to do life changing things. In conclusion, history was full of heroes making differences in the lives of others.
