En la actualidad existe un sin número de ventajas y desventajas del concepto conocido “off-shore outsourcing”. Detrás de cada iniciativa es una decisión compleja seleccionar el tipo de modelo a utilizar de “offshore outsourcing” para que de los resultados esperados por la organización. Seleccionar el modelo apropiado es un aspecto determinante para desarrollar el plan de outsourcing. El proceso envuelve factores como, la estrategia de negocio, selección del país y la estrategia de “outsourcing”. Según la página Web Outsourcingboom informa que una de las ventajas de outsourcing es que permite realizar trabajo como manejo de los datos de una manera aplicada. Pero a su vez también existen sus desventajas que se explicaran mas adelante. Según European Information Technology Exchange (2004) enfatiza nueve ventajas sobre el modelo. La primera ventaja es la reducción de costo y en su estructura. En los países de bajo recursos la labor es más económica en comparación con países de Europa o Estados Unidos. Por tal razón muchas compañías buscan sus servicios dentro de estos países. Aparte puede ayudar a predecir mas niveles de costos. Otra ventaja es el acceso inmediato al personal técnico. “Países de bajos recursos tienen disponibles personal cualificado en abundancia” (European Information Technology Exchange, 2004). Segundo esta el acceso inmediato a la tecnología. El personal tiene que seguir los cursos, aprender la nueva tecnología, construir bibliotecas y adquirir experiencia todo esto antes de que la nueva tecnología pueda ser utilizada eficientemente. Outsourcing puede disminuir la curva de aprendizaje de la nueva tecnología y reducir los gastos invertidos en adiestramiento. Muchos servicios en países de bajo costo, han construido campos considerablemente expertos en el negocio en varios mercados. Este tipo de especialidad es de alto costo en Europa o los Estados Unidos.     Outsourcing has become an epidemic veiled as beneficial to the American economy. American job holders and American job seekers have been far more hurt by the ramifications of outsourcing then is led to believe. Outsourcing is commonly known to cause job loss in the United States. However, studies and reports given out by consulting firms and economists have caused the general public and politicians who control the policy’s involved with outsourcing to believe that it is beneficial to the economy and the consequences of it are minimal. There have been three major studies and surveys that have tremendously helped the outsourcing advocates rationalize their points. The first study is “The ITAA study” which claims that forecasts that twice as many jobs would be created than would be destroyed as a result of outsourcing.
