Ocean Descriptive Writing
The sun was glistening on the ocean as I glided in. Thinking to myself that this was the best vacation a fourth grader could have, I observed the ripples as I inhaled the sweet scent of the refreshing water. Boogie board in hand, I swam out farther to catch a wave. Soon, when I had not been paying attention, I realized I had gone out too far. That moment was the first most panic stricken I’d ever been. Noticing the splashes of the waves more than anything, I never became fully aware about how far I’d gone out until it was too late. Not yet to the riptide, lucky me, I was able to catch ahold of myself. I spun myself around, I could just make out my grandmother’s cries, “Christine! Get back here, you’re too far out!” As I swung myself back to catch the board, I felt water up my nose, choked on the salty water, and got yanked under. …show more content…
Once more, I was submerged under the surface to be slammed against the ocean floor. As I resurfaced, with my lungs on fire, I grasped my board to stay afloat and let the waves push me ashore. Propelling myself, I made it back to shore but in the process, I got shoved onto the beach varied sized rocks. There was no possible way I could push myself to the other beach, so I had no other choice but to stand and pull myself out of murky the water. In the midst of the rocks I cut my legs on shards of sharp-edged stones. Seeing the blood may have made me ten times more shaken then I already

I woke up hazed with blurred vision. The right side of my face was dried and burned. The left side of my face was soaked in salt water and blood. I was freaked out and picked up my head and blinked rapidly. I saw nothing but blue for miles and miles, the sky and the water. When I looked down I saw nothing but a small black and orange rubber dingy. I tried to think about what had happened. It was then when I realized I couldn't even remember my own name. Then panic just settled in for some reason I jumped in the water freaking out. I came to my senses and quickly started using all my strength to hurdle myself in the dingy.…

Earlier that day, my family and I took a serene walk down the pier. We saw fishermen catching fish and people getting ready to go fishing in a boat. When we got back to our petite cabin, we prepared to go frolic at the beach. At the beach, my brother and I went swimming. The massive waves were uncommon at Capitola, so we were cheerful we got to swim in the immense waves. After a terrific ten to fifteen minutes of…

She struggles against the ripping force of the ocean current. Her arms are quickly tiring from swimming against it. She relaxes, letting her muscles fall limp. Within seconds, she is pushed out to sea. The people on the beach are so small, little tiny ants against a white sand backdrop. The tall condo skyscrapers are now tiny Lego buildings. The kids hollering and music blasting on the beach is faded like a distant memory. She will die out here, she’s sure of it. Her daughter won’t have a mother’s hand to hold when learning to walk. Her husband will be left a widower, forever broken by the loss of his love. She closes her eyes and accepts her fate as she drifts further out to sea. She floats for a long while, the salinity in the water steadily…

The wave was murky coming towards like a rigid and supreme barrier. It began to coil over, he looked up the wave loomed over him. His father’s words came back to him giving him an urge of determination “a true mariner never deserts a sinking ship.” It heaved itself onto his boat. The boat shredded apart, jagged pieces of timber where floating and he was left sinking. His boat had plunged into the depths of the enigmatic ocean. The salted sea pricked at his delicate eyes and his spectral face white washed. He was crawling for breath kicking his feet neurotically. He managed to clench onto a residue of his boat his naked fingers scratching the plank and splinters dashing up his finger nails. For him time felt suspended. His clothes saturated with water clinging on and sticking onto his skin. He was wrinkling like a prune. He had a vacant expression, solitude was conquering him. He had to overcome this despair as the turbulence of the storm…

A small ripple ran across the surface of the water where he had been. I called out his name, hoping that he had just swam underwater for a second. There wasn't a response. I swam out to where he was, feeling slimy strips of sea weed brush against and entangle my feet as I cut through the water as fast as I could.…

I knew I wouldn’t make it to the top of the murky, warm and brown waters. I could feel the oxygen being released quickly from my lungs and bubbles swiftly skimming my skin as I slowly reached the bottom of the lake. I heard the faint cries for help and loud splashing as my sight becomes blurred. I felt someone’s hands grab mine and pull me onto the grainy dusty dirt. My vision comes back and I feel everyone’s eyes on me. They all immediately start laughing at me as I stood up and brushed the dirt off of me, feeling something tightly clutch my body.…

The sand scorched our feet like steaks on a fiery grill. I had brought the Rock along to join me for a surfing lesson. We snatched our wetsuits and our boards and hit the waves. The ocean water sends a chilling sensation through my body. The polar water feels like a steamy shower after a long day, calming and relaxing. The waves are monstrous and intimidating, however, I seem to ride them effortlessly like I had done it a million times before. I dash past the Rock and under a curling wave. In the waves there are vividly colored fish swimming in schools. The water is so translucent that one can easily see the ocean floor, and the coral and seaweed that lay on…

The hot sun on my face while flying smoothly felt like we I wasn’t moving until I see people running from the waves crashing on the beach. The sky looked foggy as if a storm was approaching. And approaching it was. The guard on the pale sand blows his whistle full force, waving his hands side to side so fast it looks like his arms are about to fall signing that it is time to pull the thick string all the way down as much as we could to start floating towards the pale hot sand. Pulling the thick string was not a one person job, so I helped Yulissa by grabbing on to the black string and pulling with all the force a 100 pound girl could give until a strong deadly hurricane like breeze pushed us far from the beach and twirling into the foggy sky where the clear, salty blue ocean was with no idea where we were going to land. Our faces full of tears and regret screaming for help as if anyone had the power in their hands to help us out of our deadly…

My mind went through a long debate, either take a chance and jump, or stay put. I usually would stay seated and wait in this circumstance, but I wanted to prove to my cousins and sibling’s that I was cool. I didn’t want to be a scaredy-cat any longer. I stood tall and walked into position. Standing there in my violet bikini, I looked down at the water, and took a deep breath. My knees bent, I pushed up allowing myself to move towards the heavenly sky’s. I was flying above the water like a seagull. I moved my knees so they touched my stomach, then I moved my arms so they cradled my legs. Gravity soon took over and I started to fall towards the mysterious water. The cool substance touched my toes, stomach, and soon I was submerged in the abyss. I rushed to the surface to get a breath of air. I broke through the water with a pearly white smile on my face. I had done it, I was the first of five to face the fear of jumping. A blast of joy interrupted the silence, along with hoots and hollers. My family was so proud of the once cowardly girl.…

The boat comes to a stop, drop the anchor, says the captain of the boat. My stomach just jumped into my throat, we are here, and I am really going to do this! I suit up, and then we all jump in for the dive. I keep looking at my regulator, making sure I was doing ok on air, I give the signal stating that I am doing ok. I look around, not much to see but a few fish and some coral. It all seems so beautiful, crystal clear, bright yellow and blue fish, pink corral wrapped in such gorgeous turquoise green seaweed, with all the beauty there was surely nothing I have to worry about. I notice that I am starting to breathe a bit heavily as I get closer and closer to the ocean floor. I make it down and looking around once again at all the gadgets I have attached to me, everything looks ok until I see how far down we were, 80 feet! I screech in my head. I knew if something happened I was for sure going to want to race to the top, but at the same time I have to keep myself calm so I wouldn’t. I know what the consequences were if I were to do such a thing. Knowing that a horrible pain through my ears and a bubble that could form under the skin from trying to go to the surface to quickly was what was keeping me at the bottom.…

The image of myself in the crevice of the sand underwater and the top layer of the ocean replays in my mind often. I can recall the moment’s features exactly. A few days later, my sister Andie told me how terrified she was seeing my head roll under the water in the distance. It is apparent to me that this is what big sisters are for, her timing really came in at the right moment to watch over me that day. I remember hearing Andie screaming as I fell in and out of consciousness “Mom take her! Mom! Take her!”. Andie had ripped me out of the water as the waves crashed over, throwing us into sharp coral on the shore. Every bash into the coral was a cut against our skin. We wrestled with the land. This end portion to me is all a blur. My sister handed me off to my mom and my haze of a nightmare experience was over.…

Wind softly caressed my cheeks, sending strands of my hair dancing across the back of my neck, the roaring crash of the waves against the rocky shore attempted to distract me, and the salty scent of the sea crept through my nose. My concentration, however, never broke. It was as if all the elements of the nature surrounding me realized I wasn't easily distracted. Everything stopped at once. It is spring break, in the middle of March, my junior year. As I cross the state line into Florida, I picture the ocean as being a place of peace and serenity. It’s my first time visiting the ocean, and all I can think about is hoping it is as beautiful as the pictures I have seen of it. As I arrive to the beach with all my friends, the eagerness of seeing this peaceful place is rising. I can’t wait to smell the fresh salty air, feel the soft sand between my toes, walk along the breezy shoreline.…
