Obstetrician Career Paper
There is a never ending list of professions that one can go into. There is something for everyone. After high school, I am considering going into the medical field to be an obstetrician. An obstetrician is a doctor that helps during pregnancy and childbirth. Pregnancy and the growth process of a child before birth interests me extremely. Although birth can be painful and agonizing the mother comes out of it with a precious human being that she gets to call her baby. It is a pleasure to be a part of someone’s birth. I think that this job is important not only to me but to others because without obstetricians people would not know the health of themselves or their babies. Being an obstetrician comes with a great amount of responsibilities.

There are many aspects of health care that intrigue me. I’ve always wanted to be a nurse; unfortunately it is very difficult to get into the program. However, if I ever go back to do that, I would want to either do labor and delivery or pediatrics. I have had the privilege of witnessing the birth of one of my nieces and it was the most amazing experience. To be a nurse and being a part of that on a daily basis would be awesome. I also have an extra soft spot for children, which is why pediatrics would also be of interest to me. Life threatening diseases do not only affect adults. I feel that being able to help children would only be helping our future.…

I believe that I may look further into this as a career option for myself. I never had an interest in the role of a nurse nor the patience for eight years of (expensive) schooling plus a residency. This career finds the happy medium between the two, and has opportunities in numerous specialities. In addition to this, there is also the high demand for physician assistants and an extremely high satisfaction rate. I have to admit, that is much more than I…

I recall being asked by my relatives: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and instead of an answer I would give them a blank stare. I had no idea how to respond. Not because there was nothing I found appealing, but because I felt passionate about too many things. I loved music, math, design, helping others, working with kids, analyzing situations and solving problems. There were to many career paths that I liked, but it always seemed to me that in order to follow one I would have to give up the rest.…

As a child growing up I think I always wanted to work in the medical field, seeing my mother as a LPN. I also have always had a natural interest in the medical field because I like to watch a lot of ER and hospital shows. At first I didn’t really know what health career I wanted to pursue. I just knew that I liked being in the healthcare class and learning about the different health science careers and what they do. I think a medical office administration assistant would be a very good career for me because I am very helpful and can always be counted on when people need me. This is not my only career choice, it’s just the first I want to pursue. One year after graduation I will hopefully have my medical assisting certificate or at least be working on getting it. Around my five year mark I want to try to get a degree from a nursing school and become licensed as a registered nurse. After that I will try to specialize in pediatrics, so I can be a pediatric nurse. In ten years, I want to get my nurse practitioners license, so that I could work directly with a pediatrician.…

Veterinarian, author, lawyer, doctor, and psychologist: these were the occupations I considered pursuing throughout my years. Though the specialities differ, one similarity is evident in all—they all give back to their respective community. Noticeably, my interests would alter throughout the years; I knew that I wanted to care for others, but I did not know how. I knew that I wanted to have an occupation that was interactive, but I did not know which. Granted, as high school was coming to a close more and more relatives became interested or invested in my educational aspirations; for instance, my grandmother was eager to persuade me to become a doctor in order to heal her aching back. One of those relatives would contribute a suggestion that…
