Observation In A Kindergarten Classroom
The instructional episode that I observed is in a kindergarten classroom where Miss. silva is teaching. The subject she is currently working with her students is writing. She began by assigning the students into different stations that the classroom has where each station is being used for a different activity. While she calls students individually in groups of three to start on the writing instruction. She sits on her table with the three students she had called individually to start working, This three students are facing her and she began explaining to them that they needed to take out the book they had taken home the previous day out so they can re-read it and come up with a short story that they will write baed on the book. The books …show more content…
Others work on practicing the letter they are learning for the week they have a paper with the capital letter and the lower case they have to praise by re writing it and complete the page with just the letter. Other work on an art project where they are drawing a picture of an animal that starts with the letter sound that they are learning for the week. This was a very interesting instructional episode to observe because I feel that even tough Miss. Silva was working with several students at a time she was still very well aware of her surroundings and was able to pay attention to every student and she made sure that they were on task. Other details that I saw that were important was how the different stations with the students rotated the students did not stay there until it was their turn to meet with Miss. Silva they had 15b minutes to be at the station and than it was time to wrote and move n to the

The behavior clips were moved down to the color red, in which meant that students were behaving badly and their parents were going to be notified. She later on explained the writing issues that all of the students were doing, that consisted of capitalizing the first letter of a sentence and forgetting to add a period after a sentence. Mrs. Metcalfe related with the students by saying that when she was young, she committed those errors as well, but she learned from her mistakes and advised her students to go back to their work and fix their errors. Before the last minutes of class, Mrs.Metcalfe showed a video over the sources of light. Mrs.Metcalfe gave sticky notes to each student and instructed them to three things they had learned over the video after the video was over. In order to go home, Mrs.Metcalfe told her students that the sticky note was their exit ticket to go home. The students gave Mrs.Metcalfe their sticky notes when the bell…

In terms of the dramatic potential of this lesson strategy, I feel it would have been more beneficial to the class if we had each attempted the exercise that our teacher had demonstrated. This required using postures and facial expressions in order to react to the interrogation provided from our class members. Another advantageous way to complete this exercise would be to perform our characters to the whole class, rather than just half. This way, I feel we would have gathered an even greater understanding of the objective due to a larger variation of ideas.…

The first hour and a half I spent observing Mrs. Ballardo kindergarten classroom. The type of lesson that I am observing is Math Cooperative groups and the objective that is being worked on in this lesson is that the students can show that they know the numbers by counting dots on a die. When walking into the classroom I immediately felt like this was a class that promoted learning. It felt so welcoming, and the mood of the children were great they were all sitting on the rug and ready to learn. The classroom is arranged with the five tables. When you first walk into the classroom there are two…

During my first round of practicum, I went to a kindergarten classroom with around 20 to 25 students in the classroom. I went to Miller Elementary and Mrs. Schuchard was my cooperative teacher. I walked in and was immediately placed with students to work with. In the morning the students were working on their daily five and phonics. One thing that I observed that I found very interesting is that the teacher had two rug areas for meetings. When she needed to teach the children for a longer period of time, she would tell them to move over to the other area in order to make them have a brain break and then refocus. It was very interesting to see how effective just a little amount of movement was for these kindergarteners.…

I set up an appointment with the Kids Club daycare at 9:45 am on November 4th to observe for an hour of toddler classroom who were between three and four years old. The principle gave me a warm greeting and took me to the class and introduced me to the teachers and the children. Everyone there made me feel welcomed. I chose a place where I can sit, observe and write my note as well as to be away from children's sight. In the classroom there were five boys, two girls, and two teachers Ms. Nadia and Ms. Emma. The classroom itself was large and spacious. The classroom is very appropriate for children this age and it has many interesting areas such as a blocks and art area, and children taped some of their previous work in the art area. The color of the class is bright and has interesting posters like calendars with the name of children’s birthdays. Also. There is a toys area that has toys suitable for both boys and girls like cars, animals, and doll. There is a reading area with a little amount of children’s books and stories in reachable…

“In an effective classroom students should not only know what they are doing. They should also know why and how.” Harry Wong is an educational speaker that tries to help teachers be able to not only educate their students, but also teach them how to comprehend and logically think. Even at Tell City Jr.-Sr. High School, there are a variety of different types of teachers; moreover, this affects the atmosphere of their classrooms. Many outsiders may see our school as boring and being the same as any old school. For the students, every single classroom has a different atmosphere that they either love or greatly dislike.…
